It is lifes nature to challenge us. Living on earth means accepting the messy, wildly complex, never stagnant nature of thingssome days reveling in beauty and joyous fortune, other days blanketed by the weight of challenges or grief. Weve been toldand perhaps even understand consciouslythat its impossible to fully understand and appreciate the great and wonderful parts of life without experiencing the hard days and crushing sadness that can come, too. We feel love and joy more freely because we also know their darker, steelier opposites.

Even so, when those difficult moments inevitably arrive, when negative emotions take over the subconscious, we naturally seek solutions, guidance, even tangible support. Unpayable bills, medical challenges, heartbreak, strained family relationships, ailing loved ones, accidents, global crisesthese things feel insurmountable at times. Our bodies and minds hold up when they can, and at other times, they threaten to break under the weight of hurt and fear.

In such moments, many of us turn to spiritual wisdom. Whether or not were religious, we think maybe there is some force or being or power out there that can guide, nurture, and take the bad feelings away, at least for a moment. For many of us, of course depending on our upbringing, the instinct when thinking of angels is to ascribe to them a religious association. And in fairness, this is a traditional and comfortable approach that many angel communicators use to this day. They practice religion and find that the angel stories of that theology resonate strongly with them. This is wonderful and a great optionbut not the only option. In recent decades, a new wave (though Im sure youve heard it described as a New Age, right?) of spiritually minded but nonreligious individuals have found new ways to appreciate angelic guidance outside the confines of structured religion. Some also opt for other methods of connecting to the wisdom of the earth, nature, and spirit, whether through the use of crystals, meditation, runes, psychic exploration, spell work, or something else altogether. Many people use a range of methods in their preferred and most comfortable ways, all with the purpose of feeling more connected to energy, Source, the space they inhabit, and the people around them.

At the end of the day, were all seeking clarity, peace, and a fulfilling life. The methods you use to get there, as long as theyre founded in positivity and do no harm, are all valid and wonderful ways to work toward your self-growth and greatest potential.

Before you spend a whole book learning how to connect with angels, understand their messages, and improve your life, its still important to get that essential background information. But while there are dozens of incredible books out there that specifically dig into the history and stories of angels (and you should explore those if that topic interests you!), this book is first and foremost meant to be practical, a workbook to lead you through real-life practices and methods for embracing angels. The history and background in this book are kept simple so as not to overwhelm you while preparing you for your future communications.

To call any history of angels brief is a bit of false advertising, since in actuality, their written history spans thousands of years and numerous texts and theologies. Depictions and mentions of angels show up in Sumerian stone carvings, the founding of Zoroastrianism, and ancient Mesopotamia. Later, angels would be adopted into Judaism, then Christianity, and later Islam as well. Even Hinduism and Buddhism, while not celebrating or referring to angels specifically as those other religions do, still have spiritual guides and figures who play extremely similar roles.
