Contents
When Brian Larcher said to me that he was preparing a book on Personal Success in this format, I could not see how such a big subject could be condensed into such a small book, but the result speaks for itself.
Brian has compiled an excellent, entertaining introduction and guide to a wealth of personal success subjects and secrets. Once you dig into these bite-sized tips, you cannot help but get a taste for more. Thats just great, because if you take these first steps seriously and then follow up with further reading from some of the works Brian has recommended, as well as the many other publications on this subject, then you will be well on your way to the success you desire and deserve.
Just have a clear image of your goals, have faith in yourself, and dont ever give up. See you at the top!
In all things, success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure - Confucius, c550 c478bc
I was delighted when Bob Safford Senior agreed to write the foreword to this book. He is a remarkable man; a self-made multi-millionaire who still makes time to mentor many on leadership skills. I am privileged to call him my guide and personal friend. Over the past 30 years, Bob has helped thousands build financial independence and is truly a leader of leaders.
Footnote: Sadly, since the completion of this work, Bob has left us and has gone to the Great Hall of Achievement in the sky. He is greatly missed, but through the power of his life and imagination, his message and legacy lives on in the very many lives of those whom he enriched with his wonderfully inspiring spirit.
This book is my personal distillation of many works, quotes and sayings on the subject of personal success. It is by no means exhaustive.
Self-improvement does not come easily for most of us. Successes are made, not born.
The first step is to accept yourself as you are. To like and, yes, even love yourself as you are. Then accept how you became who you are now so that you can set the past aside and take a fresh baggage free look at your strengths and abilities. Then take a relaxed look at where your life is now, where you would like it to be, and what you need to be, know and achieve to gain these goals for yourself. This might require a little time alone and apart from the rush of daily life but it is well worth it.
Now once you have a clear view of where you want to go and who you need to be to live that life, you can make a map, set a course and be that success.
The first step is to be there in your mind. See yourself as that person who has already achieved success and it will be yours.
A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes - Mahatma Gandhi, 18691948
The fundamental goal of this book is to help you to make the very most of the abilities that you have and use them positively to affect your own life and those of others around you. In some respects, you could liken it to a motoring guide. If you're a driver, for example, you will know how much you had to learn both in terms of the rules of the road and how to control a vehicle to be able to pass the test and to drive proficiently. With practice, this is no longer a conscious activity but comes naturally. That's not to say that we don't ensure that we are entirely aware of everything around us when we're driving, but that some actions become habitual with experience and the right initial training.
If you think of our Body, Mind and Will in the same way, then it makes sense to expect the need to learn how to effectively use the rules of nature to best advantage. The same analogy is true of any new skill or ability we may wish to learn and put into practice. Our proficiency is in direct relationship to the time and effort we put into learning the process. How is it, then, that many of us expect to automatically understand how to get the best from our Mind and Will without effort, with respect to our goals and desires for success?
