    About the Author

1959: Spirit took human form as the author. Let the games begin!

1967: At age seven, took a three-month course on hypnosis with her psychology-teacher parents and witnessed firsthand how the mind creates reality.

1977 to 1980: Studied at the University of Michigan with a double major in neuroscience and film/video. Began to experiment with meditative states and personal explorations of consciousness. Met meditation master Swami Muktananda as part of a school-related field trip and experienced a spiritual awakening.

1980 to 1989: Visited Muktanandas ashram for two months and stayed for ten years. Received the name Kumuda, which is the name of a night-blooming lotus, and also means one who gladdens the earth. Lived a decade of monastic life, meditating, chanting and studying spiritual scriptures. Offered service, producing and editing videos about the teachings of the path. Also milked cows, ran excavators and front loaders, moved trees, and worked in the garden, dishroom, audio department, music department, and library.

1990 to 1996: Moved from the ashram to Hollywood for an award-winning career as film editor, director, and producer, working on many news feature shows and television programs, including Hard Copy, Candid Camera, X-MEN, and The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. These mainstream avenues honed her creative skills and brought her in touch with mainstream audiences. Received an inner command to share what youve learned, and began to write.

1997 to 2008: Wrote several books, including a spiritual memoir titled Never to Return: A Modern Quest for Eternal Truth that received some critical acclaim when it was published in 1998. While living a simple life of creative and spiritual solitude, created Night Lotus Productions, which focuses on bringing light to the world through creative and charitable works. In 2000, authored the first edition of Spirituality For Dummies, and soon after wrote Secrets of Spiritual Happiness. In the late 1990s, created a popular and extensive Web site of free multimedia spiritual resources that are offered in the spirit of service.
