While people age 60 and over make up just 20% of the population, they are responsible for almost 80% of the health care cost. This book shows seniors how to stay fit without going to a gym, buying expensive exercise equipment, or having a personal trainer. The Exercise for life program can be done in the comfort of your own home. I began this exercise program at age 60. I wrote this book at age 76; some might wonder why I would wait so long to write this book. After having done the Exercise for Life program myself almost six thousand times in almost 17 years, I had to prove to myself, this was the best and most effective exercise program for seniors to have a fit body along with having a fit mind. This program avocates physical fitness and mental fitness.

DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to all the people who desire to have good physical health and mental well-being as they get into their late 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. To those who realize as you get into your senior years, remaining physically healthy and mentally alert is one of the greatest gifts one can give to themselves and to their families. Exercise and sensible eating habits will be a major factor in making these gifts a reality. It can be the difference between you living well and just existing. This book is also dedicated to my three sons, Calvin Jr, Christopher and Marc, for whom I pray for a long and healthy life and to always strive to be the best you can possibly be, and dedicated to my secretary Chanel, whose assistance has been invaluable.

I am not a physician and in no way should any of the words or opinions in this book be construed that I am qualified to give medical advice.

INTRODUCTION

I know many of you may wonder why someone would wait until they are 76 years old to write a book about exercise and fitness. What explanations could I have which would be plausible and make practical sense? I believe almost every action or reaction which someone commits to in life; is an expression of ones core values and the steadfast rules by which they govern their lives, and serve as the justification for those actions.

For me to believe in any system or program, I have to have indisputable and irrefutable proof, as to the value and beneficial results of that particular program. The purpose of this book, is to introduce you to the health and life-saving benefits of The Exercise For Life Program; which is a method of becoming physically and mentally fit and being able to retain that fitness as you age to your 60s 70s and even 80s and beyond. After doing The Exercise For Life Program for 16 years, I have proven to myself, The Exercise For Life Program works spectacularly. It has exceeded my greatest expectations, and is the best exercise program for becoming physically and mentally fit and remaining that way. You dont have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on expensive gym memberships or hiring a personal trainer; or buying expensive exercise equipment. Every exercise in The Exercise For Life Program can be done in the comfort of your own home. If you are still wondering; why I wrote this book 16 years after I began The Exercise For Life Program at age 76? Remember I did not begin The Exercise For Life Program until age 60. I could not in good conscious, advise you to do something I had not done thousands of times myself. I have done The Exercise For Life Program almost 6000 times myself; and experienced personally the benefits of the physical and mental fitness it has added to the quality of my life. I have included some lighter moments in this book such as, Oh God I Hate getting Old and a chapter where I encourage you to look back and recall incidents and episodes in your own life, some warm and wonderful, some not so warm and not so wonderful. That chapter is Reflections of Life. Reflections of Life allows you to take an Honest, sincere, Wonderful, Genuine, Straightforward and Candid look at yourself and view how your life has unfolded. Although, I digress in parts of this book and discuss other areas of ones life. The most important reason for writing this book is to introduce you to, The Exercise For Life Program and explain the life saving benefits this exercise program has for your physical health and your mental well being. It is my sincere belief, after you have read this book, you will be able to look back and reflect upon your life; while looking forward to a long and healthy life with The Exercise For Life Program.

OH GOD, I HATE
GETTING OLD

There is only one alternative to getting older in life, and Im sure none of us relish that outcome. As one gets older and reaches the age in life when one can be called a senior, we all reflect back on our journey in life and wonder where all the time has gone and how we have found ourselves getting to this age, in what seems like a very short time, it feels we were young, just a few short years ago. If you feel the same way; I came up with this phrase, to express how I felt, when I knew this had happened in my life. That phrase is. Oh God, I hate getting old. If anyone reading this; and they have not reached that point in their lives where getting old is a concern, just keeping living, I guarantee you will.

As we have lived our lives day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year. Even though you have experienced every waking minute of your life; it seems as though as we get older, the years seem to go by so much faster, you may have thought to yourself, as you age, why does time seem to pass so much more quickly than it use to? How are we supposed to comprehend this, and what is the essence of growing old? Your clothes get old, your shoes get old, and your car gets old. When this happens theyre either discarded or thrown in the junk heap. Thank God this doesnt happen to old people. With people, whose stars once were glowing bright and full of light, over time that once bright light just gets dimmer and dimmer, until it just fades away. Oh God, I hate getting old.

I know every person born is endowed with that certain something, which makes him or her, a one-of-a-kind individual. Of all of the billions of people on this earth, youre the only person who is exactly like you. We are all unique in our own way. Most all of us who are older and have raised families and seen our sons and daughters, raise families of their own, and some of you will see your grandchildren begin to raise their families. And if you live long enough some of you will even see your great-grandchildren begin to raise a family. Im sure many of you look back, and think about when you were young and raising your own family, and how times have changed. As you age and your own star begins to lose its twinkle and becomes dim. Its been said, the only alternative to getting older is death. No one wants to die; but God I Just Hate Getting Old.
