Overcome Panic Attacks & Anxiety Forever
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.
Lao Tzu
Panic attacks and anxiety are difficulties that people from many walks of life struggle with. Although symptoms can range from mild awkwardness to feeling fully debilitated by panic, those suffering from anxiety are not alone. Around 18% of Americans live with panic and anxiety disorders. In the UK, anxiety disorders and depression are also the most common mental health difficulties affecting the population. But alarmingly, only one-third of Americans actually receive treatment; and in the UK, a mere one in eight sufferers get help. This leaves a lot of people in the world who are working through these struggles alone.
Many people living with anxiety believe that all they can do is accept it and give into a grim reality of living with panic attacks for the rest of their lives. They feel like they are doomed to struggle with anxiety forever. Once youve had it for a while, anxiety can start to feel like its just a part of you, like this is just who you are. Panic attacks and anxiety can feel like a life sentence. But thankfully, that is not the case. Panic attacks do not have to be a permanent feature in your life.
They do not have to determine how you live your life, the way you choose to socialize, what your relationships with others are like, or what your future holds. Anyone can recover from panic attacks. Anyone can change the way anxiety affects their life. Anyone can start over and get the life they really want. The human mind holds incredible power when it comes to change, growth, and recovery. No one is damaged beyond repair. Even those who feel like panic attacks rule their everyday lives can learn to silence them and grab hold of the reins. It is never too late to win your battle with panic. No matter how long you have suffered with it nor how serious your panic attacks are, you are capable of recovery. Hold that truth close to your heart as you being your journey. Remind yourself of it through every up and down you experience along the way.
Panic attacks can worm their way into virtually any part of your life. They can act as a dark cloud hovering above everything you do, day in and day out. Panic attacks and anxiety can make everyday experiences, excruciating. Getting on a bus can feel as nerve-wracking as getting on a rollercoaster. Talking to one person can feel like being on stage in front of a thousand people. Your thoughts will race, your stomach will somersault. You may overthink and over-analyze the experiences you have with others. You may beat yourself up and hate the fact that you cant seem to do even the simplest things without having your nerves get the better of you. You may have one panic attack per year or one per hour. But regardless, you can and will overcome this hurdle.
Panic attacks are different for everyone. Those who experience panic attacks rarely, usually get them during difficult times, such as after a death in the family, a recent break-up, or the loss of a job; although there are plenty of exceptions to this rule. Some people might never experience any other problems with their mental health and may otherwise feel fine. Their attacks may strike like lightning and disappear as quickly as they came. Others will experience attacks far more often, possibly even daily and on a long-term basis. These extreme cases may be a result of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or other mental health difficulties. They may be due to a difficult childhood or a tumultuous adulthood. But despite the fact that we are all individuals with different experiences, feelings, and worries, panic attacks tend to feel the same for most people. The physical effects are more or less the same for everyone.
Most people will experience the effects of their bodies being flooded with excess adrenaline. Most will also be forced to cope with racing thoughts, an inability to bring themselves back down to earth, and difficulties concentrating while panic has them in its grip. Some will struggle to do things outside of their daily routine. For example, the thought of attending social events or job interviews could send you over the edge. A trip to the grocery store might fill you with dread. You might be petrified of traveling, or virtually any other thing that your mind has decided is dangerous or daunting. The fear of panic attacks themselves is also common among sufferers. This is only natural because if youve had even one panic attack, you wont want to have another. The problem is, if youre afraid of having a panic attack, youre likely to restrict the things you do with your life on a daily and long-term basis. If fear is allowed to rule your life, you might easily forget how good life can actually be. Youre likely to believe that youll be stuck like this forever. But Im so happy to be able to tell you that that is just not the case.
This book is going to lead you through a journey of understanding, bravery, fearlessness, emotional stability and recovery. You can and will have a new lease on life. The methods here are designed to be of help to anyone living with panic attacks, no matter how great or how small. Panic attacks are curable. You hold the key to your own future. By learning more about how panic attacks and anxiety affect you, you will gain the knowledge you need to get a hold of your thoughts before they reach the stage of panic. By gradually and gently approaching situations that trigger your panic, you will prove to yourself that you are stronger than your panic attacks. The guidance I will provide you with will safely guide you through experiences that will be positive and reassuring, as opposed to scary or daunting. By being able to slow your thinking down and rationalize your thoughts, you will be able to prevent panic attacks from happening and stop them in their tracks when they do. Finally, this book will focus on giving you a long-term permanent cure. Because once you know how to tame and overcome your panic, it will no longer be allowed to have a place in your life.
Its time to free you from the restraints of panic. Its time to start enjoying your life. Its time to live up to your true potential. And most importantly, its time to give you something to be truly proud of. Panic attacks get in your way. They prevent you from really living. They can wriggle their way into any part of your life. They can make your relationships, work experiences, and general living, slaves to anxiety. But life does not have to be this way. By dedicating yourself to change with the help of this book, your life will never be that way again. When dealing with panic attacks, we have to be able to talk ourselves off the preverbal ledge. We have to be able to rationalize our thoughts, feelings, and reactions to the people and events surrounding us. We have to give ourselves the opportunity to grow and change the shape of our lives. This book will show you how to do just that. Let yourself feel excited and encouraged by that.
