Dedication
To my grandparents, Floyd and Opal, who inspired me to always appreciate life, to walk wisely, and to surround myself with the qualities of hard work, education, dedication, love, and humility. Their example of love, care, and devotion is one I try to emulate on a daily basis. They are present in my life in so many ways each day.
To my Dad, who I miss each day, but treasure in my heart always.

Writing a book has been a dream of mine for more than twenty years. Many people have been major players in helping this dream come to fruition.

Thanks to my mother, Marilyn, who is a remarkable, positive role model in so many ways. She dares to dream with me in whatever I choose to do, all the while sharing her thoughts, suggestions, and unwavering support and wisdom along the way. She is truly the wind beneath my wings.
I want to thank my sisters, Amy and Megan, for their unwavering support and love. I am richly blessed because of their presence in my life, and Im so proud to call them my sisters. Thanks also to their husbands, Dennis and Denny, and to my beautiful niece, Audrey.
Thanks to my extended family, as well as my in-laws, David, Euniece, Darlene, Larry, Janell, and Amanda, for all of your support and love.

Introduction
Good order is the foundation of all things.
Edmund Burke
Based on my more than seventeen years as an educator, and now also as a professional organizer, I believe that most teachers are inherently organized, at least on a basic level. The very nature of our job forces us to multitask on a variety of levels, from lesson planning to preparing student materials. If we didnt incorporate basic organizing principles into our days, we wouldnt get very far as professionals. But we all know our good intentions and even strong beginnings can quickly fade as the pace of the school year quickens. With the multitude of tasks and responsibilities teachers face daily, organizing our classrooms can easily become a secondary priority. But I believe an organized room must be at the forefront of our plans for successful school years. Without organized classrooms, we cannot ensure that our lessons are sound, our materials are accounted for, or our classroom spaces are functional and useful for our students.
Without an organized classroom, we cannot ensure that our lessons are sound, our materials are accounted for, or our classroom spaces are functional and useful for our students.
Whether you teach primary, intermediate, middle school, or high school students, this book is meant to be a guide that helps you realize your goals for becoming more organized with your time, paperwork, and classroom spaces. There is really no right or wrong way to be organized. Teachers must decide for themselves what being organized means.
