It brings you clarity ofthought and the ability to walk through life calmer and centered,in conscious control of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Youdo not have to be familiar with meditation to use this book. Beginwith the first meditation exercise. It offers an introduction tomeditation and shows you how to breathe and how to keep yourposture. You can use the same technique for each of the meditationsin this book. All of these meditations can be performed whilesitting, standing, or lying down, but sitting isrecommended.

If you are able, it is recommended thatyou record these meditations to play back to yourself while youexperience them. You could also work with a partner or group andhave someone read the meditations aloud to you. If you do neither,read through the meditation of your choice a couple of times, andthen undertake the journey.

Find a room thatoffers you comfort and quiet. You may choose to use a pillow orperhaps a chair to sit on. Choose whichever position is mostcomfortable, as long as your back remains straight to prevent yourmind from becoming sluggish or sleepy. You may also like to keep ajournal and pen next to you to write down your feelings andexperiences.

Once in position, relax and take a deepbreath in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.Take in another deep breath and slowly exhale. As you relax, say toyourself mentally, My body rests and refreshes itself when Iconsciously relax.

As thoughts come to you, acknowledgethem, and let them float away, thus freeing your mind. Continue torelax and slowly breathe in and slowly exhale. In this state, youare connecting to life energy.

Feel yourself sinking deeper and deeperwhere you are sitting, letting go of all distractions and thoughts.As you take another deep breath and slowly exhale, you feelyourself growing very peaceful and centered.

Begin to call light to yourself, andimagine with each inhale of breath, you are drawing in a beautifullight, and as you slowly exhale, that light is spreading andvibrating throughout your whole body from the top of your head tothe tips of your toes, encircling you in light and love. Allowyourself to bathe in this light, and feel the blissfulness of thisspace. Breathe in and slowly exhale.

Groundingand Centering Yourself

This meditation will allowyou to feel a firm connection with the earth and become centeredwithin yourself. You can learn to walk in balance, strengthened bythe nurturing earth below you.

Sit comfortably or stand, your feetslightly apart. Keep your back straight, your shoulders relaxed.Begin to breathe slowly. Think of the ground on which you stand.Think of the earth that both supports and nourishes you. Yourhumanity is sacred. The earth is sacred. The ground beneath yourhome, the ground that grows your food, the ground beneath your feetright now, and the ground beneath all of your journeys all sacredand holy ground.

Imagine a glowing cord of light at thebase of your spine, and let it extend down, past your pelviccradle, past your feet, and into the cool, damp crust of the earth.Let the cord penetrate even deeper, past the burrows of smallanimals, past the deepest roots of trees. Let your cord reach downinto the warm, flowing magma. Feel the warmth here, the passion.The magmas powerful flow allows the earth to shift and change.Plunge deeper now, into the very heart of the earth. The iron corehere calls to the iron in your blood. From heart to heart. Feelthis connection. Feel the abundance of energy here and start todraw it up.

Draw your cord up, pulling that energycloser to you. Draw it higher, up through the magma, drawing onthat ocean of fires powerful currents of change. Draw it higher,through rocks and roots and through the dark spaces of porous soil.Draw this earth energy into your feet, into your core. So sweet andstrong. On each breath, draw it up further. Through your legs andthrough your core. Into your belly, your center of gravity. Draw itup into your heart now. From sacred core to sacred core. Takinganother breath, let some of this earth energy rise through thecrown of your head, connecting you to the sky.

Breathe deeply, feeling whole,centered, and strengthened. Place one hand over your heart and theother hand over your lower belly, holding in this energy. The earthhas an abundance of this warm, loving energy whenever you need it.Open your eyes, and carry this feeling with you as you go aboutyour day. Each step you take is one of rich connection. Feel thestrength available to you no matter where you are. Feel the courageto flow with currents of change. Feel your power to stand tall, tochoose your path. Feel the stability that is yours tohave.
