T HE POWER OF POSITIVE DESIRE is a dynamic force that, if understood, will lift you to the realization of a happy, forceful, healthy and successful lifestyle.

I think I am qualified to help you discover this force, in its positive sense.

I met my wife, Daisy Marie Washburn, when I was only 17 and she was only 16. One year later we were married. At 20 and 21, we were missionaries in India. At 23 and 24, audiences of from 10,000 to 25,000 were coming to hear us teach. We were privileged to experience over 53 years of happiness, love and international ministry together before her demise in 1995.

In over 80 nations, our audiences have numbered from 20,000 to 300,000in stadiums, ball parks, race tracks and out on open fields where people of all religions, creeds and persuasions can freely attend.

We believe that the only authentic message from God is good news.

Hinduism and Buddhism accept conditions of poverty, unhappiness, inadequacy, sickness, insignificance or inferiority as the fate of the gods.

Religion or Good News

When Christianity is reduced to just another religion, it is not very different. The religion which pharisaical tradition has formed from Christianity is rooted in pious, medieval theology and has lost its good news.

Is it logical for true believers in God and in the Bible to bow in hopeless submission to demoralizing and depressing conditions? Can that increase spiritual qualities?

Religion seems to inevitably exact some kind of contrition or self-reproach of its adherents.

God believes in you, values you and esteems you so highly that He created you just a little lower than Himself, then decked your world with every conceivable treasure and beauty for your health, happiness, success and fulfillment.

He created this fabulous world to be utilized by those whom He created in His own image.

Is it a generally accepted idea that humanity has sinned, therefore people must now pay for their transgressions by physical suffering, deprivation and the indignities of impoverishment?

The Bible is clear about the fruits of sin. But the good news is that God never quit on us, even when we blundered. Rather, He was so fond of us that He gave His Son to redeem us from our sins by suffering our punishment, in our nameso that we may be free forever of guilt, condemnation and judgment.

The Message That Lifts People

If we must continue to cower, to suffer, to accept inferiority and to live in self-reproach, then the death of Jesus Christ is of little benefit to us while we live on this earth.

Archaic theology misses the point of the Good News. The Bible message is to lift people instead of to put them down. It announces forgiveness instead of condemnation. It helps people discover the good life of health, happiness, success and selfesteem, instead of berating them as Joshua Liebman says most Western religions do: Atone you miserable human worm! Smite yourself with the rod of punishment. Lacerate your guilty soul else you be not worthy in the sight of God.

THE POWER OF POSITIVE DESIRE is written to motivate you to reject mediocrity and to experience excellence.

Desire Is an Empire

When understood and directed positively, desire is a powerful force inside a person. As you read this book, this creative energy which may have been neutralized in you by prejudiced religious influence, will be freed and you will begin to soar.

When it happens inside you, the circumstances and conditions around you will conform positively. God will be released to materialize His abundant goodness in your life.

I am not lauding an unbalanced view of material gain. Your attitude might be like ours has been. We have never chosen material prosperity. But we believe that God deposited material wealth in this planet for the blessing and the use of His children who do His will on earth.
