Gods Garden Genesis 12 In the beginning there was nothing but God Let there - photo 2

Gods Garden

(Genesis 12)

In the beginning there was nothing but God. Let there be light, he said, and just like that, there was light. God made the blue sky, the green grass, twinkling stars, and a shining sun. He made chirping birds, wiggly fish, and furry animals, too. Then God made a man named Adam and a woman named Eve. God planted a garden and put the man and woman in it. Gods garden was their home. And God said, This is very good!

God made everything and everyone.

Look around the garden.

Where did God put the yellow sun?

Do you see the green grass?

Point to the brown bunny.

Can you wave to Adam and Eve?

Noah and the Ark

(Genesis 69)

God was sad. Only Noah still loved God and listened to him. One day God told Noah to build a big boat called an ark. Noahs neighbors laughed at him, but Noah worked until the ark was finished. Then God called two of every kind of animal to come inside the ark. Suddenly, it began to rain. It rained for forty days! The earth was covered with water, but Noahs family and all the animals were safe.

God calls each of us by name.

Noah needs help to call the animals.

Can you say moo like a cow?

What sound does a duck make?

What about a dog?

Gods Promise to Abraham

(Genesis 1521)

Abraham loved God and talked to him every day. One night God said, Look up at the stars. Can you count them? There were too many stars to count. You will have even more children than that, God said.

Abraham wondered what God meant. He and his wife Sarah were already old and did not have any children. Still, Abraham believed God, and Sarah gave birth to a baby boy. Everyone was surprised!

Can you help Abraham count the stars?

God gave Abraham more children and grandchildren than there are stars in the sky. God always keeps his promises.

Moses Leads Gods People

(Exodus 3, 1314)

Gods people were slaves in Egypt. God made a plan to save them, and he sent Moses to lead the way. Remember this day, Moses said, for God has set us free!

Moses led the people out of Egypt to the edge of a great sea. Then God told Moses to lift his arms over the water. God split the sea in two and a path of dry land appeared! Gods people walked across to the other side.

Imagine you are Moses.

Stand and raise your hands over your head. Now open your arms wide to the sides. The sea opens in front of you. People cant move oceans, but God can do anything!

One day Gods people heard someone yelling. Who will come and fight me? the scary voice called out. It was Goliath, the mightiest Philistine warrior. Everyone was afraid, but David wasnt. I will fight the giant, David said. I am small, but God will help me. Goliath raised his spear and laughed. He laughed even harder when David took out a slingshot and five smooth stones. David aimed at Goliath. The stone whizzed through the air, and Goliath fell to the ground. David won the battle!

When we have faith, God helps us.

David needs help finding stones for his slingshot.

Can you help him find five black stones?

Daniel was honest and wise. That is why King Darius trusted him. But some people were jealous of Daniel, and wanted to get rid of him. They tricked King Darius into making a terrible law: anyone who prayed to God would be punished!

But Daniel loved God and prayed every day. So he was thrown into a den of hungry lions. May your God save you! Darius cried. Daniel spent all night with the lions, but God sent his angels to shut the lions mouths. The next morning, Daniel was still alive!

Pretend you are a hungry lion. Take a deep breath. Raise your head to the sky.

Now roar! Lions are fierce and strong, but God is even stronger.

(Jonah 13)

God told Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh. Instead, Jonah sailed away on a boat. God wont find me, he thought.

A great storm rocked the ship. Jonah was tossed into the sea. But God sent a gigantic fish to swallow Jonah up with one gulp! For three days Jonah lived inside the fish. For three days Jonah prayed and told God he was sorry for not obeying. Then the fish spit Jonah out onto the shore. Finally, Jonah went to Nineveh!

God made fish in all different sizes.

Can you find the small fish?

Where is the medium-sized fish?

Now find the biggest fish of all.

God always knows where to find us!

(Luke 1)

Mary lived in Nazareth. One day the angel Gabriel came with a message. Greetings, Mary, the Lord is with you, Gabriel said. God has chosen you to be the mother of his only Son, Jesus.

At first, Mary was puzzled, but she loved God and believed his promises. I am Gods servant, she said. I will do whatever he asks. Gabriel left, and Mary hurried to tell her cousin Elizabeth the wonderful news!
