The impetus for this work has come largely from interacting with students for nearly fifty years in the classroom and outside it about issues pertaining to the Bibleits origins, development, character, authority, and meaning. An outflow of intense engagement with these budding scholars in an attempt to deal with their concerns has sharpened my own sense of curiosity, reflection, and research.
