Prologue
The subconscious mind hasalways fascinated me. This fascination started approximately 25years ago, when my at that time very young wife, was taking herfinal exams to become a teacher.
She was frightened to deathand was on the verge of giving it all up. I had by chance read a"Dummies for hypnotists" - (read this book and become a greathypnotist in 10 min.) and thought it couldn't hurt trying out thetechniques on my wife. Things could only get better!
We got up together veryearly in the morning, and I used what I had learned to the best ofmy abilities. The book was very simple, straightforward and directin its form. Bring the person into hypnosis and give thesubconscious mind a number of positive suggestions.
I am quite sure, that Imade some elementary mistakes. Mistakes, that I nowadays as anexperienced, trained master hypnotist, would have smiledat.
My wife was more calm, confident and relaxed the following mornings after the hypnosissances, and also passed her final exams.
Whether my efforts had anyactual effect, or whether it rather was my wife's blind trust in myhypnotic abilities that did the trick, those early experiences withhypnosis left a little seed in my stomach.
This seed lay dormant forseveral years, before it was fully awakened.
After taking a degree inmusic and science, health issues forced me to shift my ground, andI began educating myself a therapist. At first I tookclasses in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and later severalyears training in advanced Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy almostinstantly became my favorite field of practice, offering a fast andeffective tool to deep and lasting personal change. So what's thisbook about?
What this book isabout
This book is about identifying old, rigid, outdated beliefs from the past and replacing them with new freshpowerful beliefs.
This "exchange" takes place on asubconscious level. Therefore this book is also a book about thesubconscious mind. How to use self-hypnosis as a wonderful tool andhow to create access to our hidden beliefs.
In this bookyou will learn to:
What isrequired from your side?
1: A sincere desire for change - perhaps thecircumstances of your life right now are problematic or downrightunbearable. Fine - this is an excellent starting point forchange.
Some of the greatest human quantum leaps ofconsciousness, have been based on a persons intolerable situation. What happened in many of these people's lives was, that theyactually started doubting.
Eckhart Tolle is a living example of this. When he first started doubting, he discovered himself as the livingwitness behind everything.
This may sound somewhat backward, as thebuzz words for many years have been "believe in yourself " or"think you're good enough".
This is undoubtedly excellent, but if allthe old, untrue and limiting beliefs from the past arentrecognized, much willpower can be spent in budging old ingrainedbeliefs. It's like turning off a fire with gasoline.
2: A willingness to spend10 min. of your day to monitor, maintain and enhance the progressyou have made. This can be done by quickly and efficiently bringingyourself into trance, using a simple self-hypnosis technique -described in the .
I know from my experience with thousands ofhypnosis clients, that great progress can happen very quickly usinghypnosis and hypnotherapy. Still it is important to continue thework yourself.
Hypnosis can be very efficient, but I wantyou to be the captain of your own ship, so you can steer the shipin the exact direction you want.
Therefore, this book is also about, how youin the easiest and simplest way can maintain and reinforce thechanges you create.
Identifying what'sfalse
For you to be successful with the exercisesin this book, a number of elements must be present. First of all,you need to know exactly what to change and reprogram inyourself.
The easiest way to identify and reach yourgoal, is to identify the beliefs that prevent you from achievingyour goal.
By this I mean, that we have to identify what's "false" first, tobe able to define what's "true". When I say false, I mean all thebeliefs we subconsciously have chosen to be and live out. Beliefswhich contradict the obvious. That we as humans already are unique, precious beings made from light and love.
We have to see through ourselves, andrealize what we are, and what we are not.
The logical, rational mind is excellent attelling and outlining the truth about ourselves. It thinkslogically and from a logical point of view, it's quite obvious thatwe as human beings are precious and invaluable.
Therefore, we can use our conscious mind toformulate exactly, how we want our new beliefs to be. The consciousmind already knows the truth about us. It is not governed byemotions and untrue subconscious programs of the past
Making iteatable
It is imperative to formulate the new beliefas precisely as possible. This makes it more "eatable" for thesubconscious mind. You cannot just pick a random sentence, andassume that the subconscious mind eats it raw.
It is necessary to address it, in a languagethat the subconscious mind understands. This language is emotional, creative, timeless. It's the language of your dreams. Therefore, Ihave dedicated a chapter in this book on how to "create the perfectbelief."
Establishingcontact
Subsequently, to change your deepestsubconscious beliefs, the new belief must be placed deep within thesubconscious mind. To do this you have to connect with yoursubconscious mind.
To establish this contact, you first need to understand exactly what the subconscious mind isall about and understand the difference between the conscious andsubconscious mind. This information is contained in thechapter: .
Finally, we need to actually enter thesubconscious mind. This is done with self-hypnosis. Again, to beable to go fast and efficiently in self-hypnosis, it is importantto learn what hypnosis is and more importantly, what it certainlyis not.
I have therefore written asection on hypnosis, self-hypnosis and included a .
Hypnosis
Myths andMisconceptions
When I started as a hypnotherapist 13 yearsago, I was very green and inexperienced. I had, throughout myeducation, acquired much theoretical knowledge of hypnosis, as wellas a great number of hypnotherapy techniques, ready to be used inmy clinic.
It took me some time though, to understandthe subconscious mind completely.
My clients arrived with loads of control, projections, prejudices and myths about hypnosis, but also withhopes and dreams of a richer and better life.
Therefore, I have always spent a great dealof time to strip this control of my clients, thereby giving themthe possibility of the most effective treatment. These guidelines,of course, also apply for this book, as you will become your ownhypnotist.
