Rise and Grind: Outperform, Outwork, and Outhustle Your Way to a More Successful and Rewarding Life: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Rise and Grind: Outperform, Outwork, and Outhustle Your Way to a More Successful and Rewarding Life" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

New York Times bestselling author of The Power of Broke and Shark on ABCs hit show Shark Tank explores how grit, persistence, and good old-fashioned hard work are the backbone of every successful business and individual, and inspires readers to Rise & Grind their way the top.
Daymond John knows what it means to push yourself hard--and he also knows how spectacularly a killer work ethic can pay off. As a young man, he founded a modest line of clothing on a $40 budget by hand-sewing hats between his shifts at Red Lobster. Today, his brand FUBU has over $6 billion in sales.
Convenient though it might be to believe that you can shortcut your way to the top, says John, the truth is that if you want to get and stay ahead, you need to put in the work. You need to out-think, out-hustle, and out-perform everyone around you. Youve got to rise and grind every day.
In the anticipated follow-up to the bestselling The Power of Broke, Daymond takes an up close look at the hard-charging routines and winning secrets of individuals who have risen to the challenges in their lives and grinded their way to the very tops of their fields. Along the way, he also reveals how grit and persistence both helped him overcome the obstacles he has faced in life and ultimately fueled his success.

Guess you could say Im a creature of habit. Or, that Ive got my priorities straight, because in the past Ive used this space to dedicate my books to the powerful women in my life. Back then, there were just four of emmy mother, Shark Momma John; my ex-wife, Maria; and my daughters, Destiny and Yasmeen. Now Ive got the love of my life, Heather, and our beautiful baby girl, Minka, to add to the mix. I am blessed to be surrounded by these six extraordinary souls. Theyre the reason I rise and grind. Everything I do, I do for them.

Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present, the result being that he does not live in the present or the future. He lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.

CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
RISE AND INSPIRE

Okay, so youre checking out this book, thinking about spending your money on it. Even more important, youre thinking of spending your time on itand timewell, thats the only thing we cant get back in this world. Once you spend it, its gone, so youve got to make sure youre spending it wisely.

Lets face it, the one thing theyre not making any more of in this world is attention, but now that Ive got yours I want to honor it, make it worth your while.

I get that your time and your attention are valuable. So this is a book about spending it productively, meaningfully, purposefully. After all, we all get the same twenty-four hours a day, whether we have a million dollars in the bank or a hundred. This book is about how to put those hours to work for you, how to use them to outperform, outwork, and outhustle your way to the top.

Hey, Ive seen some things, met all kinds of interesting, ridiculously successful people. Ive hung around with world leaders and game-changers. Im constantly learning from these people, and one of the things Ive learned is that there is no secret formula for success. However, there are certain essential ingredients that are always in the mix. Truth is, there is one common trait I notice in all the people I meet who are thriving and striving: every single one of them has got a killer work ethic. Seriously, they are up and at it each and every day, and they are at it hard. You could call it drive. You could call it determination. You could call it oomph, grit, or hustle.

I call it rising and grinding. And Im out to shine a light on it here.

Maybe youre thinking youve already read one or two of my books and youre wondering what there is left to say. Ive written about the power of broke, telling readers that you dont need a big budget to be successful as an entrepreneur. Ive written about how we all stand as our personal brands. Ive written about my own rise from the streets of Hollis, Queens, to the very top of an urban fashion industry I helped to create. But now its time to do a deep dive. Its time I took you behind the scenes and let you in on how I power through my days. Im going to tell you all about what gets me rising and grinding every morninghow things were for me when I was just starting out, and how they are for me now. Ill show you how Ive changed my approach, as I learned to rise and grind and hit all these new targets that were set out in front of me.

Ill share a bunch of my day-to-day habits and routines to show how I make the best use of my 24/7, and Ill break down the rituals of some of the worlds most successful people, from all walks of lifepeople who inspire me, who amaze me, who push me to be the very best I can be.

The idea is that by pulling back the curtain and showing how these folks live and work, I can highlight some takeaways for readers looking to change things up. Maybe youll get a whole mess of ideas. Or maybe youll take just one primary strategy and find a way to attach it to what youre doing in a way that transforms your life forever. Thats how it happened for me, the third or fourth time I read Napoleon Hills great book Think and Grow Rich. It lit something in me, turned me on to a very specific practice that I started using myself, one that set me on a path to success. Ill tell you more about that a little bit later on, but the point here is that we can all learn something from the people around us, from the people we admire.

Think about the people you look up to in your lifethe folks in your field or in your community who seem to have it going on. Its great to be inspired by the successes of others, but one thing I want you to think about as you read this book is how important it is not to be intimidated by the successes of others. Those who are ten times, twenty times, a hundred times more accomplished than those around them are almost always driven in a more focused, more determined way than their peers. Whats the differentiator, between being okay and being great? Between poverty and prosperity? Well, one of the keys is having the right attitudethat was the message I shared with readers in The Power of Broke. But another important key is knowing how to make the best use of your time, how to maximize every moment, and thats going to be our focus in the pages ahead.

I happen to believe that a small percentage of our lives are determined by acts of Godsay, two percent or so. Tsunamis, earthquakes, winning the lottery, chance meetings with people or opportunities that can ignite meaningful prospectsgood or bad, these are the things that happen to us and are out of our control. But if we accept this notion, then we must also accept that the other ninety-eight percent of what happens in our lives has to do with the decisions we make or dont, the actions we take or dont, the strategies we put in place or dont.

It has to do with how we rise and grind.

Heres the deal: Im hoping the people you meet in this book will inspire, amaze, and push you, the same way they do me, and that youll pick up on some of what theyre doing and apply it to whatever it is youve got going on. Even if you look through the table of contents and see the name of someone who might stand on a different side of an issue thats important to you, I hope youll take the time to see what theyre about. Hey, I cant say I see eye to eye with every one of these people on every single issue either. But Im sharing their stories because Ive learned something important from each of themsomething I had to share with you as well. Even if you cant relate to them directly, I hope youll stay with them, learn from them, be inspired by them.
