Chapter One

The desire for sex

The desire for sex is arguably the most powerful and most repeated thought we experience each day. A good question would be, what else does a person think about more than the desire for sex? Ask yourself what you think about most?

Do you think about the desire for food and drink, watching your favorite TV show, going to sleep? How about what you'll do after work, what you're having for dinner, working in the garden, playing golf or tennis with your friends. Do you think about the safety of your family as they go about their day or the happiness of your spouse?

Then ask yourself this. How often do you have a thought that revolves around sex? A thought about wanting sex, a past sexual experience, the cute delivery guy or co-worker, the hot neighbor across the street mowing the lawn or the woman that you see walking her dog each day on the way to work?

How about the person that just made the left turn from the opposing intersection? Did you see them glance at you? How about that movie you watched over the weekend, or the kiss your spouse gave you this morning? What about that lingerie ad you saw in Sunday's newspaper or the sexy, shirtless Fireman in that calendar your co-workers were looking at in the break room.

How about that hot guy that gave you a glance while you were having cocktails with the girls after work last Thursday? What about that woman in the red dress you saw on the bus billboard as you came to the office? What about the woman you saw jogging while driving to the store? She sure was working up a sweat. Did a thought similar to, "I bet she can work up a sweat during sex." go through your mind? Could just reading the word SEX in this book make you think about it even more? How many times a day do you have thoughts that revolve around the desire for sex?

What thought is repeated in your mind the most each day? If you're like the majority of normal, healthy individuals, the thoughts that revolve around the desire for sex is repeated more than any other thought during your waking hours.

Advertising and marketing has definitely taken a queue from this concept. Just think about that last episode of American Idol or the that detective show that kept you glued to your couch. How many times did you see a commercial, an image or hear a statement that was based around the fulfillment one's desire for sex?

A sleek car that will make you look more successful, the bra which makes your breast look more enticing, the blue pill to solve that erectile dysfunction, yep it's all there. Just think how much has been spent on developing the right scent to create everything from perfume and cologne to candles all with the intent of get one in the mood for sex.

Clothing to drape over your body in the name of attracting the opposite sex, panties to make your behind rounder, shirts to help suck in your gut . All in the name of making more of members of the opposite sex see you in a better light.

Take a look at online and you'll see the same thing. How many times have you been distracted from that online report you were reading because of that cute girl or guy in the ad just off to the right on your screen? Have you ever clicked on those? Ads based on the desire for sex are everywhere for a reason, they work.

They work because the thought of sex is almost always on or near top of mind every day for almost everyone.

There is no perfect technology which taps into one's sex brain waves and this book is not qualified nor meant to be a scientific journal in any way, but we have borrowed some facts from various studies for the sake of argument.

The actual number of times that men and women think about sex differ and many agree the way a man thinks about sex is different than the way a woman thinks about sex. The argument is easily won when presenting the case that the desire for sex is one of the most thought of and certainly most powerful desire of both a man and a woman.

At a recent study at Ohio State University researchers gave men a clicker and were asked to click one of three buttons on itsex, food, sleepevery time the thought of one of those things came to mind. Their study showed that the average man had 19 thoughts about sex in a day; once every 50 minutes.

A different study in 2011 at Ohio State University found men thought about sex as much as 388 times a day, or once every 3.7 minutes. For most men of the men you see every day, they are either thinking about sex or have thought about sex less than an hour ago.

In a study conducted for women, The Ohio State University found the average number of times women reported thinking about sex was 9.9 times daily. A less scientific online survey showed women thought about sex up to 34 times in an average working day. In one unscientific study women stated each time they meet a man for the first time, they were able to decide in less than a minute if they would ever have sex with him.

There are hundreds of studies that point to the fact both men and women think about sex equally or more often than they do about food and sleep as they did. Needless to say the desire for sex is at the top of mind for both men and women each day . What we do with our desire and exactly to what level we think about sex differs greatly from person to person, however it would be difficult to find other thoughts occurring more than the desire for sex.

The power of the human sex drive is very persuasive to one. People have done just about everything, both good and bad because of their desire for sex. History is full of stories about those who have who have risked their health wealth and very livelihood as a result of being driven by their desire for sex. Great male leaders whose success was inspired by the desire for a woman can be found countless times in history books. Explorers have traveled oceans, concurred nations, searched and found treasure all in the name of pleasing a member of the opposite sex.

Most historic accounts revolve around man's desire, but men aren't the only sexual conquistadors. Women also enjoy the thrill of the chase and will do many extraordinary feats to satisfy their desire for sex.
