In the last decades, Latin America has been a productive and fertile ground for the advancement of theoretical and empirical elaborations within psychology, social and human sciences. Yet, these contributions have had a hard time to be internationally recognized in its original contribution and in its transformative heuristic power. Latin American Voices Integrative Psychology and Humanities intends to fill this gap by offering an international forum of scholarly interchanges that deal with psychological and socio-cultural processes from a cultural psychological perspective.
The book series seeks to be a solid theoretically-based, though still empirical, arena of interdisciplinary and international debate, as well as a worldwide scientific platform for communicating key ideas of methodology and different theoretical approaches to relevant issues in psychology and humanities. It will publish books from researchers working in Latin America in the different fields of psychology at interplay with other social and human sciences. Proposals dealing with new perspectives, innovative ideas and new topics of interdisciplinary kind are especially welcomed.
Both solicited and unsolicited proposals are considered for publication in this series. All proposals and manuscripts submitted to the Series will undergo at least two rounds of external peer review.

In memory of Dindinha (Joana Ferreira Silva) and her mother, who, even in times of oppression and forced silence, kept alive the seeds of my indigenous ancestral roots.
While writing this preface, I had the opportunity to share one of the most interesting intellectual experiences I have lately had. I have organized and chaired a panel session calledAnthropophagic Psychology: dialogue between Latin America and Europe,at the International Conference of Theoretical Psychology 2019 in Denmark. It has been a quite provocative and breakthrough event that left the audience somehow both disquieted (Simo 2003) and intrigued.
Danilo Silva Guimares was one of the panelists. He has discussed the principles of an indigenous psychology in light of the innovative notion of Dialogical Multiplication.
His speech has been a short essay of the complex theoretical and methodological framework he now proposes inDialogical multiplication: principles for an indigenous psychology.
In this volume, Guimares begins by arguing that the received knowledge, and the current epistemological reflection, has sought strategies to construct a subject able to represent the world apart from any cultural mediation. Then, he moves on to a critical reflection about psychology as a discipline that faces the limits of the modern project, that is constructing an universal epistemic subject while running the risk of producing epistemic injustice (Silva Filho and Tateo 2019).
To become a general science, psychology needs to understand how other indigenous perspectives participate to the process of knowledge construction about the topics approached, instead of imposing cultural values - present in all theories and methodologies - without reflecting about the ethnic-cultural perspective expressed in those theories.
Dialogical multiplication: principles for an indigenous psychologytries to answer the question of how we can overcome the deadlock of hegemonic, colonizing mainstream as opposed to a self-marginalizing counter-culture.
The theoretical innovation proposed by Guimares is that of building a conceptual account of unity via multiplicity - from the perspective of cultural psychology - where the inclusive separation (Valsiner,1987) of the Self and the Other is the starting point, .
Considering that the purpose of cultural psychology is to produce general psychological theory on the cultural mediation of the relations between self, others and the world I argue that, to achieve this, cultural psychology needs to understand how indigenous perspectives participate in the process of knowledge construction, transforming psychological concepts and practices. This would prevent psychologists from imposing cultural values embedded in their theories and methodologies. Whether the psychologist is involved in research or practice in an interethnic field, they must consider their ethnic-cultural belonging and the consequences of their approach to other people
