Authors
Frank Brechling is professor of economics at the University of Maryland, College Park. Trained in Europe, he has held teaching positions at several European and U.S. universities, including the London School of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Northwestern University. His primary research interests are in labor economics. Currently he is on leave in Yerevan, Armenia, where he is setting up a research institute in economics.
Louise Laurence is an associate professor of economics at Towson State University. She received her Ph.D. in 1987 from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her past research has focused mainly on aspects of unemployment insurance financing. She has had articles published in Applied Economics and the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance.
