Comfortable Suffering

Our genes are not our destiny. Our genes load the gun; but its our environment that pulls the trigger.

W hen we are suffering from a non-communicable or chronic disease, modern medicine seeks to give us comfort. The result is that we comfortably suffer.

I wrote this book because it doesnt have to be this way. Ive learned that we each have the potential to have a more fulfilling, happier, and healthier life. We can unlock our bodys natural connection to sustainable weight loss and optimal health, and our lives on purpose. We dont have to accept a life of comfortable suffering. Through intentional changes in lifestyle and nutrition, we have the power to positively influence our genes, prevent, and reverse chronic disease, increase our life spans, and improve the overall quality of our lives.

If you use the strategies that I offer within the pages of this book, you will likely lose a substantial amount of excess weight, but weight loss of itself is not the goal. The number one objective of this plan, is to keep the possibility of comfortable suffering, out your life.

So, what I offer you is not a diet book, but an invitation to add more years to your life, and more life to your years. Not through a quick fix, or a temporary resolution, but through a reasonable, and lasting, personalized nutritional & lifestyle plan.

Introduction

R ecently a lot of new information has been circulating in the news, on talk shows, and in social media about how we can achieve our best health, avoid chronic disease, lose weight, and avoid the illnesses that we may be genetically predisposed to. This information has been disseminated to us by many renowned researchers, doctors, and experts in the field of medicine. They tell us that we can accomplish all of this by following specific dietary and lifestyle recommendations. Many of them have written books and produced video symposiums for public consumption. Additionally, there have been, and continue to be, many recent conferences where scientists, researchers, clinicians, health care providers, and doctors, get together to share the latest on new technology, scientific breakthroughs, studies, and newly acquired knowledge, with one another.

Amazingly, with so many great minds at work there are a myriad of things that they all can agree on. As a matter, of course however, there are also a bunch of things that they disagree on. For example, some will counsel you to eat meat, while others advise against consuming meat. Some advocate enjoying full fat dairy, while others have taken dairy off the table for good, and still others recommend consuming dairy only if its low fat. The same is true of beans, certain fruits, fats, oils, and even exercise! So how is a reasonable person to know what to do? Whose advice should you listen to? Which plan is going to serve you best? How can you achieve the promised ultimate health, wellbeing, and ideal body weight?
