You probably know about bunch of ways to make money online, but I don't know how you came to the conclusion of going into drop-shipping. If you are reading this book, that means you probably want to work from home/anywhere in the world and be your own boss.

Normally, in the online world with more money comes more cost. and extra credit card bills to pay. Its not a deal-breaker because you had no other choice then, but now you do!

Drop-shipping is basically just selling a manufacturers product as yours while putting a seemingly higher value, price tag and marketing resources on that said product without having to deal with inventory, unsold goods and some other unpalatable risks that comes with making your own goods. Pretty simple right?

So you need three things to succeed:

1. A useful, hot and/or trending product.
2. Your target audience that is not only willing but also able to buy the said goods.
3. The place where all these come together which is your store front.

So thats basically it at least in a nutshell.

When thinking of online business such as drop-shipping we usually have a few no-brainer platform choices to choose from.

Although there are a bunch out there but most people will just go for the most popular or industry accepted standard.

This is good in some cases, but of course not all cases.

A few of these platforms are more popular and established:

For blogging it's WordPress,

For small websites it's Wix or Square-Space,

For Automated mailing services it's MailChimp or active campaign or even getresponse well this one is not set in stone because there are a bunch of them out there some better than the rest.

For building sales funnels its ClickFunnels

Lastly, for ecommerce, popular choice suggests Shopify, although theres Woocommerce but its under Wordpress.

The list goes on and on and each takes its monthly cut... Monthly just like your rent, electric bill, and a bunch of other bills.

So if you are just getting started you now have to pay a mentor or find a free guru on YouTube which is OK but most of them dish out half-baked information and would only give you great content on their courses which are crazy pricey.

Everything I mentioned above are the depressing parts but chill... The exciting and interesting part is yet to come, so stick with me!

Note: I'm not online guru just trying to help you get a lot more for your money by grabbing a fleeting opportunity.

WHY PAY MONTHLY? OR YEARLY?

Like I said before, your business needs three things thrive, grow and scale.

A hot and trending product

A great platform and tools to run on

The audience, your customers usually, the more the better.

A Hot And Trending Product:

Most online gurus or ecom experts will tell you to niche down because you don't want to be the next Amazon or AliExpress who sell everything. You want to build your business around what works and not what you are interested in.

So niche down to a very specific and profitable audience.

For example, I recall when I registered as a fiverr affiliate, this was around November of 2019.

I started promoting their services, and I was seeing good returns. But the point I am trying to make is that, for it to even work without any paid ads, I had to narrow down to a certain niche, and I chose cats, although I was contemplating between cats and dogs but am not a dog person.

So I went on Facebook, joined a bunch of cat groups with high enough engagements and had a lot of members, then, here's what I did... From the get-go I started interacting and commenting even sharing and also posting just a few cause I don't actually have a cat.

Note: most of these groups have a bunch of rules, including the one that says no promoting of products, so I could not just post a link and run if I did that I could get banned.

Now, I went to a page on fiverr got a graphics designer that cartoons pets, including cats and dogs, and I found a pic that looks like the one he's already done and copied it.

By the way if you are not familiar with fiverr its a freelancing site with experts for hire.

Then I posted the pic on the groups as if it was mine, but first off I framed it into a nice frame template I ripped off Google.

I edited it with the caption - the best gift I got for my cat ever!.

That one post got a ton of engagement and some of the comments were like I would love something like this for my cat so, I just followed up with those that showed interest, which led to a bunch of sales and the rest, like they say is history.

Now onto the more interesting parts,

A Great Platform And Tools:

I mentioned a bunch of tools and platforms in chapter one which are all good, established and industry-leading tools but the problem comes when scaling because all your bills and expenses tend to double or even triple as your audience grows, irrespective of whether your gross profit increases or not.

Now focusing on dropshipping specifically, we are back to Shopify as its the biggest player and your most likely choice.

The 14 years old Shopify, is no doubt a good platform, you can tell by its numbers, to get all the bells and whistles on a standard Shopify store you have to shell out nothing less than $79 per month, and even on this plan you do not get advanced reporting and real-time shipping.
