This book will teach you to create manga drawings so cool, your friends will be begging to learn how you did them!
The first section, Kids Draw Manga , starts with the basics, like how to draw manga-style faces and heads. Then youll learn to draw a bunch of manga-style characters, from young boys and girls to intense sci-fi commanders and giant fighting robots.
The second section, Kids Draw Manga Monsters , shows you step-by-step how to draw all kinds of fun manga monsters, from little furballs to giant dinosaur types. These monsters are sometimes mischievous, sometimes cute, or maybe even evil. Regardless of their traits, they all have two things in common: (1) they have a lot of personality and (2) they lack the ability to frighten anyoneespecially the characters in the next section.
Shoujo manga is perhaps the best-loved style of manga, featuring stories of adventure, friendship, loyalty, and teamwork. In the third section, Kids Draw Manga Shoujo , youll find leading men and fantasy fighters, fashionable teens, school kids, magical girls, goddesses, demi-gods, and even more knights and fairies. MANGA BASICS
L ets get right to the good stuff! Take out a pencil and paper, and lets get started.
Drawing the Eye
The eyes are the most important part of any manga character. Draw them very big and round, with huge shines. There are at least two shines in the typical manga-style eye, sometimes even more.
BOYS EYE
1. Draw the top eyelid.
2. Add the iris (the colored part of the eye).
3. Draw the bottom eyelid.
4. Show the inner and outer edges of the eye.
5. Add the upper eyelid crease and the shines. Color in the iris.
6. Darken the iris. Leave the shines white.
GIRLS EYE
Girls eyes are drawn differently from boys eyes. Most girls eyes are drawn in the shape of a box.
1. Start the outline of the eye. Add the iris.
2. Draw the bottom of the eye.
