One thing, Sonja, Red said.

Mmm? Already he could see her thoughts were elsewhere, a fact he found strangely annoying.

Brina confirmed it. Sonja looked at her second-in-command, who grinned.

Donika pursed her lips. There arent many guards around that merchant.

They dont want to draw attention to it, thats why. Pulling the laser from the holster at her thigh, Sonja checked the energy level gauge on the side of the barrel.

You are aware that were in the middle of the Lawful Sector, arent you?

No! Really?

Ha-ha. If were caught

Like hell.

Then stop your moaning. Sonja peered around the corner of the tavern, taking in the trade building across the wide street. The Daamen traders just delivered the energizer

God, theyre handsome devils. Illona sighed longingly. Why dont we just kidnap them instead?

Ignoring the big blonde, Sonja studied the building. The traders will leave soon. Itll be dark in half an hour, then we move in. Everyone just follow the plan and well be free and flying in no time.

Donika rolled her eyes at her twin. Elyse just shrugged.

The security on this place looks tighter on the inside than the outside, Fretya, Red commented.

The merchant looked up at the giant trader towering head and shoulders above him. This energizer is worth a lot of dinnos. Im taking no chances on it being stolen.

Tis not much likelihood of that here, is there?

Youd be surprised. Word somehow got out about this thing coming. This energizer has enough power to supply electricity to a small settlement. Fretya laid his hand on the wooden box containing the item under discussion. Small it might be, but powerful it definitely is.

And youll sell it for a small fortune.

Thats the name of the game, friend.

Grinning, Red stuck out his hand, palm up. And the name of the trade is pay up now. Your goods are delivered in one piece, and our job is done.

Pulling a pouch from the folds of his robe, the merchant dropped it into the traders big hand. Thanks, Red. There are not many Id trust to pick up and deliver this kind of thing. One thing you Daamen traders are well known for is your honesty. I take it youre off to the tavern now?

Im in need of a pretty wench and a big mug of ale, the other giant trader standing beside Red answered.

Thats all youve been able to talk about since we left Comll, Simon, Red chided.
