For simplicity and ease of writing the term He or Him will be used universally to mean any person of either gender. However, this is not intended to suggest that a female is not capable of leveling an attack on a person or defending herself from an attack. This simply eliminates the need to continually write He / She or Him / Her.
For the purpose of this training the term Edged Weapon will refer to any and all edged, pointed or other improvised edged weapons.
For simplicity, the terms police officer or officer will refer to any sworn or uniformed enforcement persons. How your state and your department govern your on-duty or off-duty actions will be your responsibility to know.
Imagine you have never seen a football game, except once or twice on TV or in a movie. Imagine further that without warning, the person you are talking to pulls a football out of his bag and throws it at you. Chances are you wont catch the ball. After a few minutes of conversation, the person throws another football at you. Again, a fifty-fifty chance you will catch the ball. After a few minutes more he throws at you again. This time youre much more likely to catch it.
