To my beloved husband.
We belong together.
My beloved is mine and I am his.
SONG OF SONGS 2:16
T hirty years ago, if youd gone looking for a book on sexuality from a Christian perspective, you wouldnt have found much. A few bold individuals had tackled the subject, and more had included a single chapter on sexual intimacy in a book on marriage. But resources were still sparse.
Today, thankfully, you can find many more Christian books about sexuality. Physicians, nurses, professors, theologians, ministers, professional speakers, and others offer excellent treatment of Gods biblical plan for physical intimacy. So why provide another?
When I began blogging at Hot, Holy & Humorous, I took a somewhat different approach. While most Christian books on sexuality address anatomy, theology, attitude, and answers for specific problems, many wives are also looking for specifics on howhow to have an orgasm, how to try new sexual positions, how to get in the mood, etc. There are secular resources for this approach, but not much from Christian authors.
Just as were commanded by God to love, sometimes we need to know what that looks like in a particular situationhow to better handle a coworker, or parent a child, or reach out to a friend. Likewise, we wives want concrete tips on what it looks like to show physical love in marriage according to Gods design.
In my blog, I primarily focus on the kind of information and encouragement youd get from a best friend over a cup of coffeeyou know, a gal-pal who offers helpful advice and the low-down on the low-down.
Hot, Holy, and Humorous: Sex in Marriage by Gods Design is a compilation of that advice. Lets sit together, girlfriend, and let me share my heart and wisdom with you on this issue.
You can read this book from front to back or simply pick out the chapters that interest or apply to you. Its not your standard sex book, or even a typical Christian sex book. Its straight talk with a foundation of faith and a splash of humor.
I pray that Hot, Holy, and Humorous helps Christian wives by giving biblical and blunt tips on how to have a sex life that goes the distance and honors our heavenly Father.

O dds are that at some point in your relationship, your husband was romantic. Maybe it didnt come naturally and maybe it was only at the beginning, but something he did made you swoon a little.
Keeping romance alive has been the subject of plenty of self-help books, blogs, magazine articles, movies, and more. Im not the truest romantic myself (for instance, I usually prefer action films to chick flicks), but I agree that romance is an important aspect of marriage. So how do you keep that spark alive? Lets delve into non-romantic husbands and love letters.
If you find my love,
tell him that I am lovesick.
SONG OF SOLOMON 5:8 (HCSB)
I am married to Spock. Have you heard of him? Hes the Vulcan character from the original Star Trek series (and recent movie reboot of the story). The defining characteristic of the Vulcan species is their ability to suppress emotion and focus entirely on what is logical.
Yep, thats my husband: logical.
Bringing your wife flowers for no reason is not logical. Buying expensive jewelry because its pretty is not logical. Telling her that shes beautiful today when you already said it last week is not logical.
Im not the only one married to someone who doesnt get it when it comes to beauty, spontaneity, and going the extra mile for a big gesture of love. So how do you get a guy like this to engage in romance in your marriage?
Heres what Ive learned from my marriage to a Vulcan:
Take the lead. It does not occur to my husband to create a romantic environment for date night or lovemaking. Since I am the one who craves romance moreeven though he does enjoy itI take it upon myself to set the scene. I light the candles, I turn on the music, I pour the bubble bath. Putting forth a little effort can create an atmosphere where the only instruction left is simply Add Hubby.
