Introduction
Relaying the Keel
In 2020, we were immersed in global pandemic tension. British PM Boris was and is, becoming more agitated by the day, European leaders and some UK Ministers are anxiously waiting for the end of our once great country, and it seems that parts of the UK mainstream media and public feel likewise.
The economy lies at risk, and business leaders all over the country are petrified that we are about to become an economic backwater, a third-world waste ground of a Country; torn to shreds by mediocre leadership, confused politicians, and a British Public facing an identity crisis. Business leaders, small, medium, and large are refocusing, some in panic mode, nowhere to turn to, nowhere that they could find the lost magic ingredients of leadership, fighting spirit, and supreme confidence. Thats where I came in.
Then the calls came in, JC ( as I am known to friends in high circles ), we urge you to write something on paper ASAP. The challenge was laid down. In one week, give us 10 of your best commandments that will help us all to get back to business once this is over.
With my years of highest-level expertise and a calling from such esteemed figures, how could I not rise to the challenge? It was around this time that the calls and emails began to turn from a trickle to a flood:
- Julian, we need some of your brains and wisdom. Have you thought about a book to help people do what you do? Dave, St Tropez.
- JC, I know how much you like to keep yourself hidden and away from the media, but we could all do with a way forward and some advice, especially us in the media, Love Rupps.
- JC, my business is at a real low ebb, we are haemorrhaging cash, and I will be laying people off. Can you come and speak to us an SAP? Best, Irish Billy.
- Mr Cookforth, my dear chap, even I am starting to panic, I might even leave the island and be based back in the UK. I really do think that you are laying down some ground rules would help us all move forward. All the best, Ricky.
So, it was with a heavy heart and extreme caution, given my secretive and highly influential background, that I decided to piece together some of my most profound and influential learnings. From a thematic perspective, this became, over time, a ten commandment format, each one bulging at the seams with insight and secretive giveaways that I express total confidence in and their ability to transform the mood and confidence of business leaders, business operators, and world leaders. I ask my readers for understanding when it comes to being specific in mentioning names and figures that dominate the world landscape; I simply cannot divulge many of those involved. Appreciate that due to my work and that of my organisation, I tread a narrow line between benefiting the planet and revealing too much to audiences that may wish to use my information for purposes other than global business domination.
I begin my story all the way back as a sprightly young teenager taking the first step on the road to greatness, unperturbed by established influential leaders of apparent greater importance and intelligence, and steadfast in my beliefs and recession futureproofed strategies.
Its 1993, and I am I sat round a glorious old oak boardroom table in the London offices of the Queens personal bank, Coutts. Around me are 28 senior statesmen from all parts of the globe who have come to listen to Julian Cookforth. They are interested in my plans for global wealth generation, aligned to perpetual deal flow and king making. I stand up confidently and sharply, delivering an energetic authoritative sermon (quite extraordinary for one so tenderly young). I confidently take the often negative, always aggressive questioning in my stride; not one person in the room has any doubt that my quasi-secretive business idea is an out-and-out winner, destined to change the business world without ever creating an obvious public ripple. I sit down slowly and confidently, and my steely blue eyes meet the Chairmans gaze. I never flicker, never blink. I simply take his acceptance that I am indeed wholly right and that what I believe in has their full backing. After another twenty minutes of questions, I gather my papers and thank them for their time. I leave the room; an extraordinary Master and Commander and rare business genius is born.
I was a young man with extraordinary ambition, and I had just gone into battle with the established men of the city, the leading financiers, economists, and leading global influencers, who were now all under my spell. It is from these humble beginnings that I created the idea that would go on to form the bedrock of my business, a business that became the greatest unknown global phenomenon in the world today.
As I looked back on my achievements in business and life, the realisation dawned on me that I was only able to serve thousands of clients with distinction, thanks to some universally robust rules and principles. It is through the application of these principles and rules aligned to flair and my natural instinct which has seen me advise Nation States, Presidents, Royalty, CEOs of Banks, Governments, and an enviable list of Sirs, Ladies, and Gentlemen.
None of this would have been possible, however, without applying the simple analogy of Laying the Keel first. As I look back on the achievements of some well-known greats and even the Bible itself, it is fundamentally obvious that the ideas and ideologies contained in these well-known passages, adopted by millions and billions of people, are built on sound wrought iron logic, which became welded into solid reality over time.
Having advised countless thousands on the direction of their businesses and ideas, one thing became painfully obvious; without a strong impenetrable structure and philosophical framework, you will be open to the elements, and the elements will seek to destroy you. We have to be recession-proof, Brexit-proof, and free of the economic realities that enslave many business leaders and businesses. Many leaders, including Royalty, A-Listers, Politicians, and newfound media stars, have sought my advice. I start with the same basic question, have you Laid the keel of your business? Are you ready to weld your ideas into solid reality? Will your idea withstand the elements? Can you cope with the biggest egos? The most aggressive CEOs? If the answer to any of these questions is uncertain, then you need to give up and start again. The Global Business World is no place for the weak or the humble. If, however, you are sure that you have a cast iron, gold-plated idea just waiting to be sailed into the shark-infested business ocean, then this book is for you. for the brave, for the fearless, for the leaders with nerves of steel and an unquenchable appetite for success and dominance.
There is, of course, a caveat; these rules can only be applied by the very few. They are not for the faint-hearted or the weak-willed. You will not find kindness, fairness, or goodwill in the following ten gems of wisdom. What you will find are lessons borne out from taking on the leaders of the business world, playing the great at their own game, and winning. If you are ready to learn and adopt 10 Titanic Business Rules, then read on. You will not put this book down until you have successfully noted every word that I have written and weaved these magnificent success principles into your own business reality.
