The Carnival Is Coming!
It is almost time for our school
carnival !
It is our schools biggest annual
(AN-yoo-uhl) event. We will have rides,
games, crafts even a petting zoo. Our
class is helping to plan the carnival. We
need to come up with some great ideas to
make it the best one ever!
Should we have a bean bag toss Face painting What kinds of food should we - photo 7
Should we have a bean bag toss?
Face painting? What kinds of food should
we sell? There is a lot to do!
What a Zoo!
Our petting zoo will have
three goats, two chickens,
two bunnies, and one pig.
That is eight animals in all.
Saddle Up for a Vote First we need a theme Our class brainstorms some - photo 8
Saddle Up for a Vote
First, we need a theme . Our class
brainstorms some ideas.
How about a beach theme? asks
Anthony. We could give goldfish as
prizes!
How about the Wild West? asks
Kaitlyn. We could have pony rides!
Mrs Eggers puts it to a vote Sixteen kids vote for a beach theme Nineteen - photo 9
Mrs. Eggers puts it to a vote. Sixteen
kids vote for a beach theme. Nineteen
want the Wild West. Get out your cowboy
boots and bandanas !
Why Do Cowboys
Wear Bandanas?
Cowboys can be seen
wearing bandanas in
old Western movies.
Real cowboys use
them to wipe sweat
from their faces and
protect their noses
from dust.
Now that we have a theme we need an estimate ES-tuh-mit of how many - photo 10
Now that we have a theme, we
need an estimate (ES-tuh-mit) of how
many people will attend . That will help
us plan how many booths we need, how
many prizes to buy, and how much food
to order.
Last year people came to the carnival We plan to sell even more tickets - photo 11
Last year, people came to the
carnival. We plan to sell even more
tickets this year. We will use as our
estimate.
Take a Guess!
Take a quick look at
the jar of jelly beans.
How many jelly beans
do you think there are?
That is your estimate.
Fun and Games Now comes the fun part choosing the games and activities - photo 12
Fun and Games
Now comes the fun part: choosing the
games and activities!
Our class makes a list of the activities
at last years carnival. Then we vote on
whether to keep each game or replace it
with something new.
Whats Your Style?
Parent volunteers will be
running the face-painting booth.
