He set up his company in Derry Church, Pennsylvania, his hometown. The town's name was later changed to Hershey. Hershey felt that if people were happy and comfortable, they would be better workers. Hershey's legacy continues in the town named after him. Hotel Hershey, built in 1933, still stands. It's now a resort with guest rooms, meeting rooms, and many amenities.
