An estimated 71,000 around the world take the Medical College Admission Test, more commonly known as the MCAT, each year. Most medical colleges require applicants to take this test, and most schools look for a combined score on the verbal reasoning, physical sciences, and biological sections of at least 30. However, the average score, on a scale of 1 to 15, is only 8. How can you boost your scores and get into the medical school of your choice? Reading 101 Ways to Score Higher on Your MCAT and employing the practices within is one way to do so. In this new book, you will learn about and understand the new computerized format, as well as the content of the exam. You will learn how to read questions correctly, how to control anxiety, and how to approach each section. In addition, you will be presented with a list of resources to help you prepare and dozens of tips from insiders. 101 Ways to Score Higher on Your MCAT is filled with practice questions and information found in each of the four sections, including the writing samples. You will find reviews of physics skills; chemistry skills; general math concepts in algebra and trigonometry; finding the main point and relevant information in a reading passage; formulating, communicating, and proving an argument; biology; and organic chemistry.

We recently lost our beloved pet Bear who was not only our best and dearest - photo 2

We recently lost our beloved pet Bear, who was not only our best and dearest friend but also the Vice President of Sunshine here at Atlantic Publishing. He did not receive a salary but worked tirelessly 24 hours a day to please his parents. Bear was a rescue dog that turned around and showered myself, my wife, Sherri, his grandparents Jean, Bob, and Nancy, and every person and animal he met (maybe not rabbits) with friendship and love. He made a lot of people smile every day.

We wanted you to know that a portion of the profits of this book will be donated to The Humane Society of the United States. Douglas & Sherri Brown

The human-animal bond is as old as human history We cherish our animal - photo 3

The human-animal bond is as old as human history. We cherish our animal companions for their unconditional affection and acceptance. We feel a thrill when we glimpse wild creatures in their natural habitat or in our own backyard.

Unfortunately, the human-animal bond has at times been weakened. Humans have exploited some animal species to the point of extinction.

The Humane Society of the United States makes a difference in the lives of animals here at home and worldwide. The HSUS is dedicated to creating a world where our relationship with animals is guided by compassion. We seek a truly humane society in which animals are respected for their intrinsic value, and where the human-animal bond is strong.

Want to help animals? We have plenty of suggestions. Adopt a pet from a local shelter, join The Humane Society and be a part of our work to help companion animals and wildlife. You will be funding our educational, legislative, investigative and outreach projects in the U.S. and across the globe.

Or perhaps youd like to make a memorial donation in honor of a pet, friend or relative? You can through our Kindred Spirits program. And if youd like to contribute in a more structured way, our Planned Giving Office has suggestions about estate planning, annuities, and even gifts of stock that avoid capital gains taxes.

Maybe you have land that you would like to preserve as a lasting habitat for wildlife. Our Wildlife Land Trust can help you. Perhaps the land you want to share is a backyardthats enough. Our Urban Wildlife Sanctuary Program will show you how to create a habitat for your wild neighbors.

So you see, its easy to help animals. And The HSUS is here to help.

introduction

Every year, thousands of premed students take the Medical College Admissions Test, or MCAT, in hopes of gaining entry into medical school. In turn, the white-robed dreams of many capable would-be doctors have perished in the wake of this daunting test, which requires you not only to know all of the major concepts of physics, chemistry, and biology, but to also be able to combine and apply them to completely unfamiliar situations. The test also includes sections on writing and reading comprehension not exactly the cup of tea for most prospective doctors.

So, yes, others have failed, but your fate could be different. As is the case for higher education of nearly any sort today the SAT for undergraduate education, the LSAT for law school, and so on the MCAT is a hurdle that simply must be cleared before you can be a doctor. Period. This book will give you the skills to run faster and jump higher so you can clear this hurdle that lies in your path to medical school, provided you are prepared to train and practice like an Olympic contender.
