Astrology Reclaims Its Heart

Astrology and Astronomy Are One

I want to talk to you today about the value and the science and the heart of astrology. Over the years, astrology has become split of f from its original complete self. The complete self of astrology includes astronomy, but some years ago during the real dawning of science in terms of its popularity taking it out from what was once considered a cultish phenomenon, really science was looked at with suspicion. Historians know about this. Science and the intellect were once considered that because they were not in rhythm with the cycles of Earth that one might find in a more agrarian economy farming, you understand.

Originally, astrology and astronomy were one thing. But as the interest in science grew more, with the astrologers blessing, the scientific aspects of the pursuit of astronomy took place. For astrologers, this was of value, since there would be perhaps greater understanding of the stars, the planets and their positions and so on. So it looked good on the surface to astrologers. But as attention moved away within the historical context of the agrarian society and into a more technological and intellectual society, there was pressure really, peer pressure at the time to separate oneself as a scientist from what was then taken for granted, which were the cycles of Earth, meaning the seasons, the time to plant, the time to harvest and so on. This was so taken for granted that the connection to astrology was actually dismissed.

Astrology has everything to do in the beginning with planting cycles, growth: The best time to do this, the best time to do that, the cycles of the Moon and so on. Much of this is still in use today for the best results in many farms and gardens. So the pressure on the pursuit of intellectual and technological times pushed people further and further away from their roots in astrology and the cycles of Earth.

Thus what started out as something that the astrologers at the time thought would be wonderful, gradually evolved into something separate, almost like a breakdown in language. Many ancient religious books point to this, but historians understand that this has more to do with cycles of nature and social interactions with people. So what we have, then, are lost elements of understanding about the nature of the planets, the true nature of the signs, and the heart of astrology, which is the same as the heart of humanity and other forms of life. That is, the unique personality of each being.
