E very mother has her own unique version of the ancient saga called Motherhood. It consumes, overwhelms, transforms, fulfills and redefines us, our relationships, our whole lives. It turns out to be everything you imagined it would be, and somehow, also the exact opposite. Loving was never so easy, nor doing ever so hard. Those first few newborn months are especially emotional with relentless pushing and pulling. And in that tizzy, you get immense comfort when you hear another moms story and feel, Yes! Thats exactly how I feel too. Im not alone in this after all.
This is precisely how I felt while reading this book.
A few months ago, I discovered that I have severe diastasis recti. And Ive probably had it since I had my first baby four years ago. No doctor, no friend, no pregnancy or baby book ever told me about this. I went on to have another baby last year, and probably decimated my abdominal wall. More than a year postpartum, I still had a five-month belly and hated my body. One fretful night, trawling through the rabbit hole of the internet, I chanced upon diastasis recti. I checked my gap immediately, and voila! Id found my answer!
