REFLEXOLOGY: Great Information, Basic Techniques and Benefits
According to healing techniques documented by the ancient Chinese and Egyptians practitioners, each human body part can be represented by various reflex points located on hands and feet. By pressing these reflex zones, any issue related to the corresponding organ can be healed without the use of medication. Applying calculated pressure to these reflex zones create therapeutic effects in other parts of the body. The application of pressure on these zones stimulates the flow of positive energy through the nerves and helps in reducing pain.
With the fast-paced world around us, people barely have time to pause and relax. The stress of daily pressure has turned people into zombies and worn-out machines. There must be something that can counter these detrimental effects.
Many people understand the detrimental effect that stress can have on the body and Reflexology is well known for eliminating stress and tension in the body. This can provide relief from many associated symptoms including headaches, digestive problems, heartburn, aches and anxiety. Relieving or eliminating stress from the body can correct hormonal imbalances and encourage proper function of the endocrine system and boost the immune system, reducing the risk of developing sickness or medical conditions.
Whether you are searching for a way to relieve stress and tension or looking for relief from symptomatic issues, hand reflexology could provide you with some great benefits. As with any course of treatment, if you have existing or underlying medical conditions you should consult with your health care professional to determine if hand reflexology or any form of massage therapy could be beneficial to you. Be sure to disclose any issue to your reflexologist to ensure that you obtain the maximum benefit from the session and you feel better aligned and healthier after each and every session.
Even when a person is healthy, hand reflexology can be used to build strength, stamina and resistance to ailments. This therapy practice suggests that each point on ones hand directly corresponds with a human organ and can be used to heal the problems associated with that specific organ. By pressing a relevant point on the hand, one can directly communicate with other body organs and heal them through massage therapies.
Hand Reflexology is undoubtable a worthwhile therapy which provides healing benefits for clients irrespective of their existing health situations. It also works in a preventative way. It is after all, a fast-paced world and people have little time to be able to stand still and relax. Gradually however, individuals are turning to complementary therapies recognizing the need to keep their immune system functioning well and to alleviate the daily stressors.

Chapter 1: Understanding Hand Reflexology
What Is Hand Reflexology?
Hand reflexology is a procedure that employs gentle massage techniques at certain focal points in the hands to promote relaxation, good health and energy flow. The massage stimulates the central nervous system (CNS) through the hypothalamus, which then activates the organs concerned to initiate renewal and restoration.
In reflexology, a holistic approach is used in maintaining health. This indicates that to be healthy, all of your body parts must be healthy too. This does not include only your physical health but also your spiritual, emotional and mental health, as well.
This is the edict that reflexologists adhere to: that there are specific areas in the hands that are connected to various organs. Hence, when that portion is massaged the concerned organ will react. Examples are the tips of both middle fingers correspond to your head and brain; the mid portions of both of your middle fingers correspond to your eyes; the tips of both thumbs correspond to your pituitary glands; and the so forth.
There are corresponding body parts that are distant from your hands but are nevertheless connected and hence, affected when you massage those particular areas. These are called your reflex or meridian points. These are similar to what acupuncturists use. When these reflex points are massaged, they promote relaxation and better circulation on the connected part.
Hand reflexology can be performed by a licensed reflexologist in a clean, warm and comfortable working area. If a specialist is performing the massage for you, he will first assess first your physical and medical condition before proceeding with the process. The reflexologist must have a comfortable reflexologist chair and massage table.
One major advantage of hand reflexology is that you can do it at home, as long as you have all the information you need to perform it.
The main purpose of hand reflexology is to stimulate certain pressure points of the hand that are connected with the specific organs of the body, resulting in healing the ailments and relieving pain, stress, tension, and anxiety.
It is important to know that the reflexology pressure points on the left hand correspond to the right side of your body, and vice versa. The treatment of a hand through reflexology starts with the firm and slow massage of the entire hand to loosen it up. Generally, the relaxation exercises flow from fingertips to the palm of the hand.
