Weve seen a lot these last couple of years. There was the Royal Wedding, which cheered up even the most miserable bastards among us. The glorious sight of spitfires and hurricanes flying over the capital was enough to make one feel proud to be British, and a style icon was born when Kate Middleton wore Alexander McQueen up the aisle. Then the 2013 arrival of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. And in 2015, Princess Charlotte. The year 2018 brought the birth of Prince Louis of Cambridge followed by another Royal Wedding of beautiful Meghan Markle and everyones favorite ginger, Prince Harry.

Then there were the Olympics: otherwise known as that running-jumping-swimming-cycling-diving event thingummy, the name of which we cannot mention for trademark reasons; luckily it all went smashingly, we were ready (eat it, Mitt Romney!), and Britains dignity, respectability, and credibility remained intact. Well, there was that moment when Boris got stuck on the zip wireoh, and the mix up with the North and South Korean flagsRussell Brand at the lacklustre closing ceremony. But other than that, all good. Well done everyone, jolly good show.

Elsewherespecifically, Sarf of the riverwe have a new Renzo Piano-designed 72-storey glass shard-like pyramid-idoididooby tower. Once destined to be the tallest building in Europewell, with all that new Russian money that we knew wouldnt last, but well always have the view. We could make a joke about the best thing about the view is that its the one place you cant see The Shard, but that would be a little shabby. Anyway, so that happened.

And to think all this happened amid a backdrop of financial collapse, Mayan nihilism and Danny Boyles supremely dreary view of the Industrial Revolution. But thats where a stiff upper lip comes in handy. All of which is to say, here it is, a guide to the most delicious, intoxicating, awe-inspiring, groovy destinations in the city. The best places for quaffing, boogying, spending, and caffeinating ourselves silly in one of the best cities in the world. Or just spots that we likethose that become part of our everyday as Londoners and which weve chosen to share with you.
