TABLES
A number of people gave valuable help in the preparation of this volume. We would particularly like to thank Professor Bo Srlvik, Bob McDermott, Judith Evans and Jill Crewe. Special thanks are due to Patricia Swift for her patience and cheerfulness when typing various drafts, and our editor at Routledge & Kegan Paul, Philippa Brewster, for her confidence in us and her reassurance when we most needed it. Mention should also be made of our long-suffering families who (fairly cheerfully) put up with a certain amount of neglect during the final stages of preparation.
