Claudia Baumgart-Ochse is a member of the Executive Board and a Research Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). She holds a PhD from Frankfurt University. In 2010 she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame. Her research interests include the Middle East conflict, the role of religion in International Relations, and religious non-state actors in global governance.
Una Becker-Jakob is Research Associate at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) where she specializes in arms control and disarmament, in particular biological weapons control. Her current research focuses on the merging of health and security aspects in biological disarmament and biosecurity. Since 2004, she has regularly attended the meetings of the Biological Weapons Convention in Geneva.
Hans Blix is Director-General Emeritus of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and was the Executive Chairman of the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) for Iraq between 2000 and 2003. Dr Blix has chaired the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission since it was established in 2004 and held this position until the Commission concluded its work in 2009. During his long and distinguished service for the Swedish government in the early period of his career he was a member of Swedens delegation at the Disarmament Conference in Geneva, followed by several other positions in the Swedish government, culminating in his appointment as the Swedish Foreign Minister in 1978 and 1979.
Shlomo Brom, a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), joined the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies (JCSS) in 1998 after a long career in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Brig. Gen. (ret.) Broms most senior post in the IDF was Director of the Strategic Planning Division in the Planning Branch of the General Staff. He participated in peace negotiations with the Palestinians, Jordan, and Syria, and in Middle Eastern regional security talks during the 1990s. In 2000 he was named Deputy to the National Security Advisor. In 2005-2006 he was a member of the Meridor Committee established by the Minister of Defense to re-examine the security strategy and doctrine of the State of Israel.
Jacek Bylica took up the position of Principal Adviser and Special Envoy for Non-proliferation and Disarmament at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in 2013. Prior to this appointment he headed the WMD Non-proliferation Centre at NATO International Staff in Brussels (2008-13). For over two decades in Polands Foreign Service Mr. Bylica divided his professional activities between Asia and multilateral affairs, with postings as a Secretary of the Embassy in Beijing (1990-95) and Ambassador to the OSCE, the UN Office and other International Organizations in Vienna (2004-8). He held a number of senior positions at the MFA in Warsaw, including the Head of Arms Control and Disarmament Division, Director of Department for Asia and Latin America, and Director of Security Policy Department (2003-4).
