Introduction

at urbandictionary.com, definitions arent written by professional lexicographers. Theyre written by everyday English speakersthe real authority on how language is used. For the last twelve years, their definitions have made urbandictionary.com the place to go to define any word, from abc sex to zomg. Its more than just slangeven words that appear in a regular dictionary are defined in Urban Dictionary.

I started Urban Dictionary in 1999 as a parody of the traditional dictionary, but its grown to be more than a parody. It has developed a rebellious, opinionated, honest, anti-authoritarian personality, and the site grows with one new definition every 30 seconds.

Since 1999 authors have sent in over six million definitions. This book is the best of the bestdefinitions written by authors, approved by editors, enjoyed by readers, and now in print.
