Foreword
It is one of life's great challenges to find work that suits your temperament and makes the best use of your talents and education. If you are a visual artist, you may find the search for the right career especially daunting. The creation of art and design may seem far removed from the world of work.
If you do envision a career for yourself in the visual arts, remember that it is a demanding choice. The arts require talent, self-discipline, and tremendous love of craft and commitment. If you feel you have the ability, desire, and courage to succeed as an artist, this book is a good place for you to start. It explores the concept of fine art as a profession and examines the definitions, uses, and consequences of art.
