The information in the Pocket Pharmacopoeia is compiled from sources believed to be reliable, and exhaustive efforts have been put forth to make the book as accurate as possible. The Pocket Pharmacopoeia is edited by a panel of drug information experts with extensive peer review and input from more than 50 practicing clinicians of multiple specialties. Our goal is to provide health professionals focused, core-prescribing information in a convenient, organized, and concise fashion. We include FDA-approved dosing indications and those off-label uses that have a reasonable basis to support their use. However, the accuracy and completeness of this work cannot be guaranteed. Despite our best efforts, this book may contain typographical errors and omissions. The Pocket Pharmacopoeia is intended as a quick and convenient reminder of information you have already learned elsewhere. The contents are to be used as a guide only, and healthcare professionals should use sound clinical judgment and individualize therapy to each specific patient care situation. This book is not meant to be a replacement for training, experience, continuing medical education, or studying the latest drug prescribing literature. This book is sold without warranties of any kind, expressed or implied, and the publisher and editors disclaim any liability, loss, or damage caused by the contents. Although drug companies purchase and distribute our books as promotional items, the Tarascon editorial staff alone determines all book content.

Last year we challenged you to find a way to use two pairs of gloves for three procedures while still maintaining sterile precautions. You were doing medical volunteer work in a very austere environment. You have been working for hours and are down to the last three patients that need surgical procedures but realize you only have two pair of sterile gloves remaining. The procedures must adhere to sterile precautions and theres no time to sterilize the gloves between procedures. How do you proceed without contaminating yourself or the patient? The answer is to double glove to start! Put both gloves on and perform the first procedure. Afterward, remove the outer pair of soiled gloves pulling them inside outthe surface that is now outside will still be sterile. Set them aside on a sterile field. Then perform the second procedure using the pair of gloves that remain on your hands. Finally, put the first pair of gloves back on over the soiled first pair with the sterile side out - now perform the third procedure.
Heres a simple onebut with more than one answer. You are about to start your shift when you notice that someone has written the following note on the otherwise blank white board in the break room: On this board, there are no more nor less thanthree letter words. What could you write in the blank to make this a true statement?
