ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Thank you
I would like to thank:
My family - to my husband Darryn, my son Callum, and mother Elizabeth - the greatest support I could ask for. Except when you keep feeding me snacks, knowing that I am helpless to resist.
Bec Hamblin (of the th ) - for your friendship and amazing proof-reading skills. I am deeply indebted. However, I suspect that snacks might help a tad.
My teacher buddies - particularly Kristyn Bowtell and Callum Hunter for eye-balling my draft and providing constructive feedback, coupled with the occasional side of hot chocolate for encouragement.
Sneka Saliba - I am extremely grateful for your friendship, and the time you spent constructively critiquing this book.
Chris Gooch - a Media teacher whose contributions to the Western Australian Media teaching community are invaluable. His insights allowed me to extend my areas of exploration and strengthen the depth of information provided. Everybody needs a Gooch in their lives, someone who will question and help shape work into something better.
A huge thank you to Alex Myer for her digital art skills in creating the logo.
My students - this one is for you. Without you, this book would never have been written. Thank you for spending your time questioning, challenging and aspiring to be better, and generally just being fun, hilarious, and awesome.
The following three books work in conjunction with one another to assist in building a strong knowledge base to equip students with the necessary skills to confidently succeed at Media Production and Analysis.

Repetition
You will read the deconstruction of the same text quite a few times. As a new concept is introduced, for instance values and ideologies, you will find yourself reading an analysis of the same text, using similar textual examples from a previous analysis, the only difference being that you will look at it through the lens of a different concept. This has been done deliberately as you are not expected to know numerous texts, you only need to study a few texts in-depth.
Controversial You will be encouraged to read, explore and discuss controversial topics in a respectful manner. You may find some topics objectionable; how you deal with sensitive material will allow you to explore and grow your critical thinking skills.
