The list will begin to scroll automatically.


  • For example if you are typing ' Gatorade ', then you will see Gatorade appear by the time you have typed ' gat '

STEP 3: Once you can see the food you are looking for, use the 4-way controller to select it (note, it is much quicker to move DOWN the list, than UP the list) and press the center of the 4-way controller to jump to that item's page in the book.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT press the 'enter' key, as this will automatically select the top item on the screen.
You must instead press the center of the use the 4-way controller, after selecting your item

2) Top 3000

Most foods that you will want to find are in the Top 3000, and can be located within a few seconds by browsing alphabetically (select the large A B C etc at the top to jump directly to that letter).
  • For example to find 'banana', you would first select 'B', then 'Ba', then go forward page by page until you reach banana.
    In this manner, you will usually find your item within the first couple of screens.

On the Kindle 3 / 4 / Keyboard, the Quick Find will usually get a result faster, if you know what you are looking for.

3) Full book search

This is NOT recommended on Kindle 3 / 4 / Keyboard , because common items will produce many search results, and they will not be arranged in a useful order.
  • For example, searching for 'banana' yields more than 100 results. (Also, some results will relate to the mini counters - fiber, protein, sodium etc).

Full search can still be useful to locate items that are not present in the indexes.
ONLY DO A FULL SEARCH IF YOU CANNOT FIND YOUR ITEM IN THE TOP 3000.

4) Browsing by categories

For example, to compare the calories in various kinds of dried fruit:


STEP 1: Choose 'Food Categories' from the contents page.


STEP 2: Choose the 'Fruit' category.


STEP 3: Choose 'Dried Fruit'.


Tips for Kindle Touch

For optimum viewing, we recommend using the second-smallest font size on Kindle Touch devices.
PLEASE NOTE: In response to user feedback, the next will increase the font size of navigational links for easier touch-based navigation on the kindle touch.
1) Top 3000
Top 3000 is the quickest way to find items on the Kindle Touch.Most foods that you will want to find are in the Top 3000, and can be located within a few seconds by browsing alphabetically (select the large A B C etc at the top to jump directly to that letter).
  • For example to find 'banana', you would first select 'B', then 'Ba', then go forward page by page until you reach banana.
    In this manner, you will usually find your item with just 2 or 3 taps.
We are still improving this feature, so it will become more user friendly in coming updates.
2) Full book search
Less common items are not in the Top 3000 index - you can find these by a full book search. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Kindle Touch uses a "case sensitive" search - this means that you must use the correct capitalization in order to get results. For example, search for "Big Mac" not "big mac" (the quotes are not necessary).When searching, bear in mind that ALL food names in the body of the book begin with a capital letter (even non-branded items such as Sweet Potato).
