F ROM THE TIME I was fifteen years old, I have been fascinated by the military commanders who were able to achieve astounding victories against great odds, often far from home. There was even a rumor that Napoleon Bonaparte carried a copy of The Art of War by Sun Tzu on his campaigns and that this book was the secret to his successes in battle, making him one of the greatest generals in history.
In working with hundreds of companies and thousands of executives and entrepreneurs, I have found that exceptionally successful men and women often have qualities similar to those of the great military leaders through the ages.
