This book is dedicated to four individuals who provided guidance as well as inspiration in the fulfillment of my education and career. To Dr. Joseph Russell, Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Geography, University of Illinois at Champaign; Mr. Jim Idol, former director of Industrial Development, Missouri Division of Resources and Development; Mr. Maurice Fulton, former President, The Fantus Company; and to my wife, Pauline, for her inspiration and patience over the years that I worked on the book.

Preface
Site Selection for Growing Companies was conceived and developed to fill the void that has existed in the literature for selecting a new business location for over 30 years. Several books dealing with business location have been published over the past several decades. However, they did not provide an easy-to-read, step-by-step approach to the selection of a new business location. They were, in general, written from an academic standpoint and not from a how-to-do-it approach.
The information presented herein is the outgrowth of over three decades of the authors experience and research into the various ways that businesses and consultants have utilized the location process. The result of this work is a document that can be used by the management of a small or mid-sized company to plan, organize, investigate, evaluate, and select a new location for its business operation.
