Profitable Plans gave me a way to clearly breakdown the steps I need to take to hit my financial goals within a timeframe that works for me. Budgeting is something most of us dont like to do even though we think its something that would help out business. Budgeting seems very prehistoric now that I have learned Profitable Plans. It was easy to follow and easy to implement and now I have something way better than a budget. I have a plan that can help me be profitable. - John D Briggs, CPA Partner Incite Tax, USA
If entrepreneurs do not reach their goals, it rarely happens on the "home stretch". Reaching goals has everything to do with how entrepreneurs are setting them.
Goals are screwed up at the start, not in the final stage. Entrepreneurs need a plan that sets them up for success from the very first step. Thats where most plans fall short.
Profitable Plans is the one truly comprehensive guide that fills that exact need. A must-read for any entrepreneur who wants something to show for their hard work when they cross the finishing line. - Benita Knigbauer, Head of Profit First Professionals Germany
Everybody needs a copy of Profitable Plans if they want to run a successful business. Femke breaks down each of the mindset, plan and action themes within the book and sets up the reader to take action, easily. I highly recommend it. Don't just read it, share it as every business should be profitable! - Laura Elkaslassy, Adroit Business Solutions, Australia
Permanent profitability is attained when mindset, aligned business model and a clear vision are married together. Femke Hogema nails this trifecta in Profitable Plans with the perfect balance of entertaining stories, strategy and clear actions steps. - Amber Dugger, Founder of Profit for Keeps, USA

Foreword
For many entrepreneurs, owning your own business means freedom. Finally, you can work where, when and how you want to. And, usually, entrepreneurs dont want to do things just for the money. They really want to contribute something with their service or product, sometimes even make the world a better place.
Being free and making a contribution. Who wouldnt want that? But theres a flip side to the story. A harsh reality. Because a lot of entrepreneurs arent free at all. Theyre constantly stressed about money and can barely make ends meet. Or their earnings are okay, but not nearly enough to make all their dreams come true.
Real freedom requires profit. Your business needs money like your body needs oxygen. Money, just like oxygen, has to flow. And if theres a shortage, everything shuts down. But and here comes a big but making a profit and earning money arent usually a top priority for entrepreneurs. Money isnt a goal for them, but only a means. Money is a logical result of doing the right things. But thats not how the game is played. Thats not how entrepreneurship works. Entrepreneurship also requires you to take the financial side of business seriously. A company is only viable if its profitable, and being responsible for its profitability is your task as the entrepreneur.
If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, if you want to make your dreams come true, youd better learn to like money. Dare to earn money, and make it a goal (maybe not the only goal, but at least one of them). And make a serious, realistic and executable plan that shows you what you need to do to make money. And, finally, take action. Every day, take the right actions to realize your goals. Mindset. Plan. Action. Thats it.
In this book, I give you practical tools to make your own profitable plan. I do this with a personal approach. I share my thoughts, my successes and my failures. I also use real examples from entrepreneurs. Everything is aimed at motivating you to make your own plan, so that you get as much as possible out of it!
With my help, hundreds of entrepreneurs have made their own profitable plans over the past six years. Why on Earth didnt I do this sooner? is something I hear often. Making your plan delivers immediate insight, and ensures that in the weeks and months to come, you make the right choices and make more profit. Its that simple.
Dont wait any longer. Make your plan and go change the world.

Preface
What makes some entrepreneurs successful and others not? Its an intriguing question, and one that Ive thought about for years. Why does Tony Robbins have multiple million-dollar businesses and a happy marriage, while other entrepreneurs have to conclude after three years that they have failed: their business doesnt generate enough money to be viable and, on top of that, their personal life has suffered because of all the hours theyve been working. Is it luck? The right knowledge? Hard work? The right connections? Or, it is a bit of all those things, but mainly something else? I think its the latter. For sure, I believe you need a bit of luck and have to work pretty hard to create a successful business. However, more than anything, success requires the right mindset, having a good profitable plan and acting consistently.
Mindset. Plan. Action. Just three simple words. But these three words make all the difference between struggling in the margins and financial success.
Your mindset, what you believe in, defines what you do and, therefore, what you achieve. If I believe this book will never be a success, Im not focused on promoting it. It would be a waste of energy. A book that isnt promoted will never get very high on the bestseller lists. On the other hand, if I believe this book has the potential to be #1 on the best-seller list, then Ill do everything to ensure it reaches the top. This way, the chance it does actually reach #1 is much bigger. But you might know what Im going to say next: the risk of failure also increases. Because if this book doesnt make the top-10, Ive already gone out on a limb with this paragraph.
