The material in this book springs from many different sources: from our own experiences over the last twenty years and from those of our clients, our colleagues and even the people in our personal relationship circles. But without the designers we have known, we would not have been able to write this book, much less develop the material. So we begin by thanking everyone we've ever worked with for allowing us to observe and learn from their experiences.

We are especially grateful to the great folks at F+W Publications, who have supported this work from its inception, by giving both of us our first speaking gigs, and Ilise her very first published article and then, ten years later, her first published book (Self Promotion Online, 2001). Without HOW Magazine, HOW Books and the HOW Design Conference, we would not be where we are today. That is a fact.

We'd like to specifically thank Amy Schell, who approached us after we gave the Pricing and Marketing Workshop at the HOW Design Conference in 2006 and said, "'This needs to be a book." From there, she smoothly shepherded us through the process. We also thank Amy for being the most flexible editor a pair of writers could have. She knows when to step in and when to step out of the process. Also, we are grateful to all F+W staff we've encountered over the years, in particular Bryn Mooth, Sara Dumford and Colleen Cannon. And to David Baker, Emily Cohen and Robert Middleton for allowing us to reprint their material-because we could not have said it better.
