Tuttle was founded in 1832 in the small New England town of Rutland, Vermont (USA). Our fundamental values remain as strong today as they were thento publish best-in-class books informing the English-speaking world about the countries and peoples of Asia. The world has become a smaller place today and Asias economic, cultural and political influence has expanded, yet the need for meaningful dialogue and information about this diverse region has never been greater. Since 1948, Tuttle has been a leader in publishing books on the cultures, arts, cuisines, languages and literatures of Asia. Our authors and photographers have won numerous awards and Tuttle has published thousands of books on subjects ranging from martial arts to paper crafts. Seasonal Sunshine NoteBY MICHAEL G. Seasonal Sunshine Note BY MICHAEL G.
LAFOSSE I decided to name this Seasonal Sunshine because the folded slanting edges make me think of the suns rays. Sunlight has a different character in each season. Use paper that is colored appropriately for any of the four seasons. The suns rays on your note will have a different personality on each one. Fold in two opposite edges of a square. You can use any attractive proportion.
Try to make both look similar in size. Turn the paper over, left to right. Fold the paper into equal thirds. Fold out the free corners of the folded margins of the top layer. Unfold the layer from beneath the top layer. Fold and tuck the extraneous corners into the open edges of the note. The Seasonal Sunshine Note. Traditional Chopsticks WrapperBY MICHAEL G. Traditional Chopsticks Wrapper BY MICHAEL G.
LAFOSSE, ADAPTED FROM THE TRADITIONAL JAPANESE HASHI WRAPPER This folded wrapper is commonly used to hold hashi, or Japanese chop-sticks. I have adapted the classic folding method to make it a locking envelope or stand-alone note. As an envelope, it can contain a rolled note, folded money or tickets to a show! Fold the top edge down, about th of the squares heightit does not have to precise. Turn the paper over, left to right, keeping the folded edge at the bottom. Fold in half, short edge to short edge. Fold the two short edges to meet at the middle. Unfold. Fold the top right corner down to align with the center crease. Fold the top right corner down to align with the center crease.
Fold the top left corner down to align with the left crease. Fold the left and right edges to meet at the middle. Fold the right half over to cover the left, tucking the bottom corner into the folded margin. The Traditional Chopsticks Wrapper. Use this model as a decorative tube to hold cash or a letter rolled up as a scroll, or use it as a note on its own. Elegant Folded EnvelopeBY MICHAEL G.
LAFOSSE Here is a simple way to make a handsome envelope for a note or a card. You can experiment with many kinds of papers. Once you have folded one you will realize that you can easily estimate the size sheet you should use for any flat item you wish to wrap. These are quick to make, so it is a good choice for when you need to produce many envelopes.
