The first thing to do is to figure out how to get started. The main question is how youre going to build this. For many, you might start off with recyclable materials, because its insanely cheaper than having someone come out and build you a greenhouse. However, if youre not a handy person, youll want to build it yourself. Also, recycling materials might be good, but in the long run it might not be. For example, polyethylene film is cheap, but it ages and has to be replaced every three months. Shop around for materials that work well. Ideally, go with fiberglass and panels of plastics for this because its almost shatterproof and its inexpensive. For you, its best to get a guy out there to build it for you, but tell them that the roof needs to be made of fiberglass.

Then there is the aspect of attached or freestanding. Attached greenhouses are attached to something such as the main house, and it has more strength. You can also add the water and heating to this. Its easier to maintain, and it loses less heat faster. You can also use an attached on as a sitting room, however it might be what you want, so think twice about this.

You can get a self-supporting one, but it will cost more, and youll have to attach water and heat to this. For some, it might not be the most ideal, but for many it might give the greenhouse better light. However, make sure that its attached to the ground, for if its not, it could blow away with the wind or be damaged due to the weather.

When choosing a space, pick a spot that is able to get the most sunlight. Watch out for trees and buildings as well, for even ones far away might be shaded. Also, check with your town for zoning restrictions as well, and make sure that you do this before you begin construction so youre able to save a lot of time.

Its important as well to take wind into consideration. It might not be able to trap sun in some locations, but might be better in others. Also, include a place that allows drainage. The drainage can definitely pile up, and that creates a situation that you dont need. So think about these two things before you put your greenhouse in.

Finally, make sure that youre able to get electricity out to it. It creates quite a problem if youre not able to, because during the winter you might need to get heat lamps installed to help with growth, and youll need to maintain the greenhouse at the correct temperature. Its in your best interest to make sure that its in a space where you can get electricity, because its a key factor in aiding the growth of your plants.

Next, you can build it. The best thing to do is to get someone to build it for you.
