Acknowledgments
In a project of this magnitude, there are many people whodeserve thanks. I am truly grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by myparents, who bought me LEGO instead of Barbies andinvested in a canoe that we still use. We went camping and hiking instead ofdriving to Disney and struck the word impossible from our vocabulary.
Paul Heinerth deserves the utmost respect for steering meinto the cave safely when I was content to explore without proper guidance. Iowe the late Wes Skiles a debt of gratitude for helping me find the fit betweenmy creativity and obsession for the underwater world. And to Jim Bowden, thesincerest thanks for the constant encouragement to explore write and follow mypassion without limitations.
I owe a great debt to the many friends and colleagues thatlost their lives, but illustrated a safer path for all of us to follow. Theywill be sadly missed and always remembered for their contributions anddedication to the sport.
