Welcome to the World of Bob Books Sight Words First Grade!
Sight words are words that appear frequently in reading. Bob Books Sight Words First Grade introduces young readers to thirty of the sight words they will learn as they become fluent readers.
Sight words are already a part of your childs vocabulary . Learning to read them is simply a matter of relating spoken words to printed words.
Your childs reading speed and understanding of the story (comprehension) will improve as he or she masters sight words.
Humorous stories and hilarious pictures will keep your child interested and engaged while gently building sight word fluency.
Bob Books offer consistent sounds, short vowels , and plenty of repetition to make your childs reading experience a success.
The books are numbered to create a sense of progress and accomplishment . Encourage your child to read them in order.
You also get 30 cheerful flash cards , which help reinforce sight words and improve early literacy skills.

8 HINTS FOR USING BOB BOOKS SIGHT WORDS
1.All children have different learning styles. Some kids want to figure out sight words on their own, others appreciate more guidance. Either way is fine.
2.Many sight words cannot be sounded out. They can often be understood in the context of the sentence or through picture clues.
3.Flash cards can be great sight word teaching tools. It is important to keep flash cards fun by limiting your sessions to three or four minutes.
4.To start, read the sentence on the flash card out loud with your child. Then turn over the card and ask if your child can recognize the word.
5.Only show a sight word card for a few seconds. If your child does not know the word, calmly say it, then flip the card and let your child read the sentence. It can take a number of repetitions for children to know sight words automatically.
6.There are lots of games you can play with flash cards. Try this one: Place several flash cards in front of your child. Ask him to make up a sentence using one or more of the sight words. How many sight words can he use in one sentence?
7.Go on a Sight Word Treasure Hunt. Give your child one or two flash cards. How many times can she find the words on a page of a magazine or favorite book? For a different challenge, hand her more flash cards. See if she can find all the words!
8.Remember, keep your reading and sight words sessions light and have fun.
