To Farmor. Tack s mycket.
Less than halfway through this book, I knew that I couldnt wait to write this page. If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a family and friends to write a book. So here is my gift to everyone who was part this endeavor.
To Grace Freedson, my agent, for your total confidence.
To the dedicated and crackerjack staff at the Dummies group, from Erin Connell who launched me; to Pamela Mourouzis, Tina Sims, Christine Beck, Elizabeth Kuball, Emily Nolan, the recipe tester; to the marketing and publicity departments; and especially to Norm Crampton, for his delicious humor and sense of style.
To the talented photography team: David Bishop, photographer; Brett Kurzweil, food stylist; and Randi Barritt, prop stylist.
To all the food boards and councils that tirelessly answered my questions. And to Gert Trani, the wonderful head librarian at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America!).
To Elizabeth Fassberg and Karen Hatt for sharing all their food knowledge.
To all my friends who generously offered me their kitchens when mine was under construction. And especially to Barbara Thanhauser who could not find enough ways to help me.
To Elsie and Seymour, my in-laws, for their infectious cheerfulness and for introducing me to mandelbrot.
To Daddy for your loving words and support from afar (it did work out after all!).
To Tom, who crafted kind words.
To Rob and George, my ever-willing tasters.
To Lori, who helped keep my mental hygiene.
To Rhona, who showed me how to speak the speech.
But most of all, to Jeff, my husband, who questioned, tasted, challenged, provoked, listened, proofed, comforted, washed, dried, encouraged, schlepped... and prevented me from being twee.
Thank you one and all.
