It may sometimes feel like your life has gone completely off track. But as long as you keep moving forward, it is only a matter of time. Look for a goal or purpose that motivates you to work harder.
My life experiences have left me convinced that we can achieve everything we set out in our hearts, no matter how difficult it seems, no matter how much work is involved, and no matter how long it takes; so long as what you seek to accomplish is in harmony with our God-given abilities and intellect...we will succeed.

Dan Lurie
I want to thank the late Mr. Dan Lurie for accepting me into the World Bodybuilding Guild in 1978 by allowing me to compete for the title of WBBG Pro Mr. America, por choosing me to represent the WBBG Organization in the NABBA Mr. Universe contest in London. As well as the publicity he provided me through his magazines for years and the constructive criticism he gave me to pave the way for my future.
Dan Lurie was one of the greatest ambassadors of bodybuilding during the 40s and 50s, eventually elected the strongest and most muscular man in the world.
Dedication
I have so much to be thankful for that it would take more than this book for me to express it all. This book is dedicated to the memory of my parents, Francisco and Francisca Lopez, for the years of love and sacrifice that made my world of bodybuilding and physical culture possible. Especially my mother for teaching me the ways of the Lord and the importance of having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. She taught me to love my neighbor, to have compassion for my fellow men, and to be ready to help at a moments notice, expecting nothing in return. I owe everything to them.
I cannot end this dedication without acknowledging the following friends that have been of influence and blessing to me:
- My cousin Ral Pacheco and Ray Jimnez for introducing me to bodybuilding.
- Chris Dickerson (Mr. America, Mr. Olympia) for helping me launch my bodybuilding career.
- Vic Boff, a strong man, naturalist, and member of the Iceberg Club of New York for being a positive role model and constant support.
- Denie Walter for all the wonderful pictures he took of me. Many of the exercise and posing pictures in this book are taken by Denie.
- Jim Flannigan and Dr. Ellington Darden for teaching me about High-Intensity Training (HIT), for encouraging me to return to bodybuilding, and most of all for being my friends.
- Bob Gallucci for helping me make this book a reality and for being a lifetime friend...
- My cousin Victor Rodriguez, Olympic Lifter and winner of Gold Medal in NY State Championship Competition and Bronze medal in Central America Caribbean Games in Guatemala. He taught me the art of Olympic Lifting in order to improve my athletic ability in bodybuilding.
- Federico Costa for the revisions and updates to this book.

The birthright of every man and woman is to achieve their genetic human potential. During the history of the world, there has never been a time when men and women have reached the awesome heights of a physical potential that they can now possess. The muscular development, strength, and dynamic physical form a modern physical culture can achieve have never before existed on this earth. My close friend Anibal for decades has been a leader and visual model of this new genesis dawning! He was molded during a time we had in our sport and fitness practice called The Golden Age of Bodybuilding. As he evolved and conquered sport, earths gravitational forces, and health challenges, he reached millions with his message of hope and inspiration, and they called him CHAMPION.
This book and related communication forms are the legacies and effective teaching guide of this process, we all must walk, to gain the highest level of health. For those who believe, we can achieve our greatest constructive genetic potential gifted to us by the Great Creator of all things.
