ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
No one person makes a book, not even the author. I am deeply grateful for the support of my agent, Holly Schmidt; the quick-thinking and capable editors and publishers who entrusted me with this precious project; and my family and friends who understood when I couldnt go places and do things with them while I was engaged in the joyful labor of writing this book. Also, the teachers and clients who have nurtured and educated me in astrology and the art of writing about it get extra hugs for helping me to deepen my knowledge and broaden my love and compassion for all babiesno matter what sign we might be.

HOW TO USE THIS BOOK
Astrology is an ancient practice, and its based on the way the planets, the Sun, and the Moon are placed in the sky when a person is born. While the complete reading of a persons astrological chart is quite complex, you only need to know the basics to gain some insight into the personality and inner life of your child. To do this, you need your childs Sun sign, which is determined by the zodiac sign the Sun was in at their time of birth. Find your childs sign on the chart:

Note: Some people believe that a person can share the characteristics of two Sun signs, which is called being on the cusp. However, when a baby is born, the Sun is in one zodiac sign or another. If your childs birthday falls within a few days of two signs, you should either have the full birth chart calculated by an astrologer, using the date, time of day, and place of the birth, or you should take a look at the descriptions of the signs to see which one seems to fit. Whether you use calculation or instinct, pick a Sun sign and stick to it; before you know it, youll be connecting with your child in a way you never thought possible.
