How to Use This Book
A strology is an ancient practice, and its based on the way the planets, the sun, and the moon are placed in the sky when a person is born. While the complete reading of a persons astrology is quite complex, you only need to know the basics to gain some insight into the personality and inner life of your child. To do this, you need your childs sun sign, which is determined by the zodiac sign the sun is in at the time of birth. Find your childs sign on the chart below:
DATES | SUN SIGN |
March 21April 20 | Aries |
April 21May 20 | Taurus |
May 21June 20 | Gemini |
June 21July 21 | Cancer |
July 22August 21 | Leo |
August 22September 20 | Virgo |
September 21October 21 | Libra |
October 22November 21 | Scorpio |
November 22December 20 | Sagittarius |
December 21January 20 | Capricorn |
January 21February 20 | Aquarius |
February 21March 20 | Pisces |
Note: Some people believe that a person can share the characteristics of two sun signs, which is called being on the cusp. However, when a baby is born, the sun is in one zodiac sign or another. If your childs birthday falls within a few days of two signs, you should either have the full birth chart calculated by an astrologer, using the date, time of day, and place of the birth or you should take a look at the descriptions of the signs to see which one seems to fit. Whether you use calculation or instinct, pick a sun sign and stick to it; youll be connecting with your child in a way you never thought possible before you know it.
* SOME TERMS TO UNDERSTAND *
This book will be more fun to read if you know a little bit of astrology lingo. You wont have to take a tutorial, but knowing the basic meaning of a few terms youll read throughout the book will be a huge help:
RULING PLANET: | Each sign has an association with the sun, the moon, or one of the planets. This planet helps to create the atmosphere of that zodiac sign and shapes the character of the people born under it.
|
EXALTED PLANET: | Some planets have second homes in other sun signs, where they can function well or in harmony with their basic nature. When a planet is in a sign it feels comfortable in, we say its in exaltation.
|
SIGN CLASSIFICATIONS
Its also important to know that the signs are classified by element, which in astrologys view can be fire, earth, air, or water. Elements help shape the personalities of the signs, and the people born under them. They are classified this way to reflect the ancient view of the four major means of manifestation. The organization of these signs is as follows:
FIRE SIGNS: (ARIES, LEO, AND SAGITTARIUS) | These people are active and forceful. You always know when theyre in the room!
|
EARTH SIGNS: (TAURUS, VIRGO, AND CAPRICORN) | These individuals are practical, comparatively calm, and resourceful. They really know how to make their ideas manifest into material rewards.
|
AIR SIGNS: (GEMINI, LIBRA, AND AQUARIUS) | Mental acuity is the telling characteristic of the human beings born under this sign. They think their way out of situations quickly and always come up with rational explanations for the experiences they have in life.
|
WATER SIGNS: (CANCER, SCORPIO, AND PISCES) | Ruled by the emotions, the people born under these signs are sensitive and empathic. They also tend to have very strong instincts and can anticipate the needs and desires of others, perhaps before their friends, relatives, cohorts, and colleagues even know they have them!

The signs are also divided up by mode which can be cardinal, fixed, or mutable. This way of dividing the signs is based upon where they fall with regard to each season (winter, spring, summer, fall), as in the first, second, or third portion of the season. The modes of the signs are as follows:
