Foreword
Natural remedies are truly amazing. Not only will they save you time and money, but you will also be impressed by how well they actually work! Its incredible how a few things from your pantry can alleviate an upset stomach, a runny nose, bug bites, migraines, and even tangled hair.
I am truly impressed with Home Remedies Rx. It is a wealth of information, covering everything from using essential oils responsibly to dealing with daily aches and pains; there is even a section with natural remedies for your pets! A few personal favorites of mine include using peppermint, which can ease a headache, and ginger root, which can be made into tea to calm an upset stomach.
Natural remedies are great alternatives to conventional treatment since you know exactly what you are putting on or into your body. This wisdom from generations before us has been passed down for a reason: because it works.
This book is a responsible guide for beginners, a great resource for natural remedy veterans, and a perfect addition to your healthy living bookshelf!
Healthy wishes to you and yours,
Katie Peters

Introduction
Its 3 a.m., and your little one wakes up with all the symptoms of an ear infection. She cant go back to sleep. Theres nowhere to go in the middle of the night to get a prescription filledeven if you could reach your pediatrician. With your child whimpering in your arms, you head to the kitchen. What can you do to make her feel better?
Inside the pantry you find your answer. You pour a little olive oil in a glass bowl and heat it up for twenty seconds in the microwave oven. Using an eyedropper, you place just a few drops of the warm liquid in your daughters ear. The soothing oil works its way into her ear canal, and in a few minutes, your child is looking around for something to do. The pain is gone! She sits up and you let the oil drain out onto a cotton ball. Minutes later, shes back in bed and going to sleep... and so are you. No emergency room visit, no doctor bills, and no prescriptions.
Simple home remedies like this one have been passed down for generationsperhaps for millennia. Since humans began making tools and gathering roots and berries, home remedies have been a necessary and valuable part of our existence. Many may seem like homespun traditions, but a remarkable number of home remedies have a solid basis in science, and laboratory research has borne out the healing properties both in plants and plant-based substances like herbs and spices, essential oils derived from natural sources, and in the most basic health advice: get more rest, more exercise, and more nutrients from the food you eat.
