Most sharks are harmless. You are far more likely to have a car crash on your way to the beach than to be bitten by a shark when you get there. Even being struck by lightning is more likely.

For most people, the thought of being attacked by a shark is terrifying. Fortunately, though, shark attacks are extremely rare.
